[1.1.x] Party-Friendly, Multi-Purpose, Bow Crit (Physical CoC/Puncture/Lightning Arrow) Guide

@Fakeycakes: You could also swap out your quiver for a rare with life/resists. Quivers can also give elemental damage bonuses as well as a percentage increase to elemental damage with weapons (which synergizes well with damage auras).

Spoiler

If resists are still a problem, you could run the Purity of Elements aura. I only see one aura on the gear you linked (Hatred). Since you're using Thief's you can definitely afford to run Purity.

Edit: Another thing you could do to improve survivability is to get gloves with "Cast Temporal Chains on Hit". You can either get the unique Asenath's Gentle Touch or get corrupted gloves with Temporal Chains as an implicit mod. Either way, most enemies will be slowed down considerably. Temporal Chains plus the speed reduction from being chilled means enemies move really, really slow.

Updated again. Hopefully the last big major change(s). After playing Olmec's Sanctum, I've come to the realization that this build roller-coasters through several power balance shifts.

At low levels, when you can put on your first tier of CoC gear, it's like: "OMG! I kill all the things!"
Early Merciless, you have to give up some damage for defenses in order to level and put on your end game gear.
66-73 maps, you survive better if you can face-tank/kill/freeze everything before it gets close to you.
74+ maps, you have to go for survivability again.

I'm trying a new setup. So far it's working, and page 1 has been updated to reflect this.

Any luck with new gear/auras, Fakey?

Hi mate, saw yours and Disabled build.
Recently i acquired windripper and saw you was mentioning in another thread for LOW LIFE build.
I have Shavy and was thinking to go that route and change my current tree to following, any thoughts on my tree or suggestions?

AND 6L Windripper, i think it is my stash and i cannot link it here.

Do you think it's possible to go EB + MoM with this build? Could help with survivability.

Trying to play around with the skill tree to maximize survivability while maintaining decent dps.

The only problem I've come across is that MoM requires a ton of mana to be viable and most gear choices are limited to uniques besides the chest, rings and amulet.

@commonjunks: With the Shav's/CoE combo, I would go for mad Spell Damage and ES. You really don't need Vaal Pact with how much you'd be leeching + ES regen rate. You have two 6-links, so reflect shouldn't be an issue. Just pay attention to mobs' auras and use the appropriate attack(s).

Also, if you want to squeeze in even more auras, keep an item with Blood Magic in your inventory to swap on when casting the auras you want to run on life. It will halve the cost vs. BM gem. Also, since you're in Standard league and look like you can afford it, Berek's Grip and The Taming might synergize really well with the build too.

@twapper: I run Arctic Armour and leech enough to sustain it, so I don't see why MoM would be any heavier to sustain. EB is personal preference. I like having the +2.2K hit pool, but if you're taking 30% less damage, it might be worth the trade off. I'd highly advise against stacking uniques, though. Pick maybe 2-3 that are best in slot for your particular play style and balance the rest of your stats around those. Please post your skill tree when you find what works. I'd be interested. :)

Hey feyith, first of all awesome guide! I really appreciate all the work you put into it and am finding all of the information very useful.

My question is regarding something you said in the guide which, I might have just missed it when you explain it in more detail, but I cant find any info on how to do it, in your guide, or on the wiki...

Also, pick up every 4-slot or smaller blue item you find; ID the weapons and save up as many Alteration Orbs as you can. You will want these later for turning into Jewelers and Fusing Orbs.

Can you explain to me what to do with these items? I have just been saving rares to turn in for chaos orbs

One other question, why is it that the Meginord's belt is used in your current spec, I can't see what it adds that makes it better than other builds?

I've been playing a lot, constantly making new shadows on invasion ;) but am still new to the game, your help would be much appreciated!

Oh, in Invasion league you don't have to worry about the economy being all screwy. Standard league, it's a lot cheaper to make your own Alteration, Jewelers and Fusing Orbs rather than trying to trade Chaos for them. Identified magic items turn into Alternation shards and you can buy Jewelers and Fusing orbs with Alteration orbs at the vendors. Weapons tend to be worth more shards, and the smaller ones mean you can fit more in your backpack.

Meginord's is a nice all around item for the +life, +strength (also adds to base life and allows you to wear higher level red items/gems), added physical damage (which multiplies with all the % nodes in the skill tree and adds to your mana leech) and a little bit of resist...but pretty much any belt can go there. It's cheaper than tri-res gear, so that's what I use.

Holy crap, you guys! I'm now immune to double reflect!!! :D

Credit goes to Centauri for having me scale back base spell damage and make up for it with curses. :)

Also can confirm that elemental leech applies to procced spells.

Little update, 69 and into maps. I still get killed here and then to harder map mods etc as I only have 1500 life roughly and working on my resistances, Fire is maxed and cold and lightning are sitting at 40 with aura's I still need to change out boots quiver and possibly ammy but here is my gear right now as of today ( may change in a couple of hours ) and passive tree. Following a users tree on page 16-17 I believe.

@Feyith still having problems with physical and elemental reflect how are you avoiding it ? your new build ? might respec and follow your final build is it labeled Windripper ?

It's partially the fire leech on my bow. I dumped all elemental and spell damage from my tree and am making up for it with Elemental Weakness. (Reflect is based on how much damage leaves your character, not how much hits the mob, so that curse is free bonus damage that I don't have to pay for.)

Before that, I just had to be really attentive to mob auras and use the opposite attack. (The yellow spiky one is physical reflect and the blue spiky one is elemental.)

How's your damage and crit chance? Is it enough to still clear the screen if you trade some crit chance and multiplier for more life?

You don't have a lot of base life on gear, so I grabbed you some more strength nodes.

The main difference between this and my spec is I have ES instead of Acrobatics. (Currently running the "Goal" tree minus a power charge for some Chaos resist.) I mostly party with a friend who runs Grace and Discipline. (Since it sounds like you solo, Acrobatics would be better.)

Since you already have movement speed on your Jade flask, I would trade your Quicksilver for a Surgeon's Granite of Reflexes (or Iron Skin).

I also noticed your gear is missing some sockets and you don't have a Cast when Damage Taken setup. That makes a huge difference.

If you're still having survivability issues, now that you have a 5-link bow, it may be time to put on some armor.

Yeah but then I'd have to get a 6L decent armor, I was thinking about getting Voll's really. Not to sure yet what I want to do armor wise, If I drop chain I loose out on a ton of DPS do I not ? and yes I plan to get a new pair of boots and get my CwDT up and running in a couple of hours. I will be picking up more life nodes etc in a bit as I level.
Yes and no. You'd have to position more strategically, but your individual hits would do more damage and cost less mana. Either that or give up PCoC and see how your proc rate still does?
