Did you consider that Added Fire Damage scales all the way up to 38%? Earlier in the thread, the calculation done to show that it was too little was 20*0.30 = 6%, but at, say, the current 27% added fire damage my current gem has (just finished normal, a few deaths, but the build is quite fun, so thanks for that), it's 8.1% extra damage.
8.1% extra damage still does not worth it.
BTW: Those calculations where on a base of informations i've found in the forum. Actually, as far as I tested it adds from the whole physical damage. I get to recalculate it

At 38% (max level fire damage according to wiki), it'll be 11.4%, which is better than some of the nodes that are actually taken (there's an 8% node around Bone Smasher that doesn't need to be taken)

By the way, I took the time to sum up what the basic build offers:
151% extra health
5.2% regen
60 max life
45% elemental resists
135% extra damage
25% increased attack speed
10% reduced enemy stun threshold
15% increased stun duration
30% reduced damage from critical strikes
320 strength (=160 hp, 64% extra damage)
10 dex
2% life leech
Resolute Technique
Blood Magic
Unwavering Stance
You may or may not want to include this in the original post.
Anyone hit level 70+ with this build yet in hardcore? I am curious to know how it does for late game.

I'm level 19 and just crushing so far. I'm hoping it stays that way. :)

Level up everything you think you could use. Leap slap is a good AoE alternative to Sweep (for when you get caught up in the middle of a pack), and the mana cost increase is negligible when you get Blood Magic.
NinjaArab, are you still using the same build now? I've started using pretty much the same as this build and just wondering what level you are? Cheers

I know that the Lava Lash node being included in this list is contentious at best, but if the increase to damage output is in the realm of 11% then maybe it isn't so bad. So let's assume we take it in place of one of the 8% increase nodes near the turn at the SW end of the tree; grab Bloodless to get to Smashing Blows and then ditch one or both of the 8% nodes next to it, using the +10str node to the west of that little cluster to make it around the bend to BM. Would having that bonus to fire damage make Infernal Blow a more interesting single-target skill than Heavy Strike?

I'm not talking about building out for some crazy ele damage, I understand that that is not the point of this build. Just for single-target DPS, would that extra damage from Lava Lash increase the output of Infernal enough to edge it out over Heavy?

Very helpful. Been using this guide as a new player and leveled up all the way to 30 with minor deaths
