Yes, 12% should be enough. I was running with 6% physical leech.
About damage. As far as I remember I had something under 4k with GS on 60lvl. 3.8 or something. I dont really remember =]
I didnt use heavy strike, because I was too lazy for it.

I'm having some difficulty understanding the issues with this build.

Mostly, I don't like how I have to give up % auras because of Blood Magic (Keystone). I hear how determination and Grace with iron reflexes is necessary, as are other % auras such as hatred and the like... All of which are impossible with blood magic.
Are these auras, amongst many, critical in higher levels.

Relax. By end-game you can respec Blood Magic and support skills with Blood Magic Gem. Or just simply sustain mana cost from mana leech.

This will allow you to wear any %-based auras you would like to: Purity, Hatred, Determination or whatever you want. In such a case flat-based auras (like Grace, Wrath or Anger) are run with Blood Magic Gem.

This requires high dps (over 2k from Ground Slam I think) to maintain mana/life cost, and high life pool to neglect reservation losses.
And also it would require two additional 4Ls: RRGB for Anger+Wrath+Grace+Blood Magic and second RRGB for Purity+Harted+Determination+Reduced Mana

This is kinda too much for casual player, since most of them have problems with maintaining 2x RRRR 4L or getting 97DEX on 61th level with 74 base DEX.

I'm only level 24 in Act 2 Normal, but a couple of noob questions.

When should you start picking up endurance charges/duration and armor nodes?
When should you be looking to max our resistances?

I skipped over the resistences after diamond skin to get to RT and BM US and Golem blood quicker.

from my understanding (lvl 54 atm) increasing your life is your main goal whatsoever. You may not notice any difference while you are at normal, since you can tank any of the mobs (at least i could), but even in Cruel (more in Merciless) your high life pool saves you way more than increased armour.
As for endurance charges, do you use them often? Do you see it useful atm? If not - then dont take them now. You can do that later, at then end of cruel or so (depends on your gaming style).

Getting armour - well, imho thats something you should take very late in game. To further increase your survivability, it gives something, but not too much. I havent taken any single damage node nor armour one and i feel pretty comfortable, at least while i dont stop spamming GS :)
