1.3 [Newbie Friendly] GROUNDSLAMMER BUILD
Greath build, I'm following it and (for now at least :P) it's very simple to follow and to play (prior that I had a cold witch and was a pain... :().
I was thinking about life regen (+8%, +12% Maximum Life, +1% Life Regen) and armour nodes (30%, +10%, +12% Increaed Armour) over Golem's Blood... This guide really helped teach me the types of nodes that are important to survive. When I first installed the game I was dead all the time in Normal because I went towards all damage. Made it nearly all the way through Cruel without a death with your help. So thanks again for putting this guide together.

Hello -
I've followed this guide completely and am now level 46 and entering ACT III Cruel. I have a 74 summoner witch, that I really enjoy, but her survivability, especially in MAPS is not good. Some MAPS are easy for her, but if it has a lot of doorways or obstacles, her minions get stuck and she's alone and dead. I'm having a bit of survivability issues now, perhaps because the content has out-leveled me. The zones I am in are usually the same level as me or one higher - so this could be the problem. One on one nothing can kill me, but when I'm swarmed, I can lose health rapidly. I've been using decoy totems to break into rooms and rejuvenation totems when I'm low on health and don't want to use a flask to just get back to full (usually after a fight). Multiple ranged attacks against me eat me alive as well. Here are my stats: Defense Life 1525 Armor 1095 Damage reduction 33% Fire resistance 70% Cold resistance 40% Lightning resistance 75% Chaos resistance -20% Life recovery per second 33.4 Damage Heavy Strike 913.8 total combined damage 735-1111 Life Leech from physical 2% Life Leech from any damage 3% Ground Slam 308.4 total combined damage 248-375 Life Gain on Hit 18 Life Leech 2% Life Leech from any damage 3% My gear isn't great - I haven't gotten a 4L or better yet. I need a higher physical damage 2h Mace since the one I'm using is this: And of course I need more armor/resists/life. Any help toward making me better is appreciated! rsalty EDIT I went back a few levels and am farming the Fellshrine Ruins for experience. It's about a full level per hour and I figure I'll just stay here because of monster density until I'm 48 or 49. Plus since the monsters are 4 levels below me I can kill huge bunches in one or two swings. Casual Player - who likes microtransactions and hideouts. I began my mara watching this tutorial, however with mad sweeping. Currently lvl 46 mara exploring pyramid in act2 cruel. I just love to jump in a crowd, and then speep FTW. But about 4 lvls ago switched to just slamming. Apart from that, I keep up 4-6 endurance charges (I have Kaom's Sign) ASAP + fast warlord on as many mobs I can, 1-2 slams, then kite. Works fine for me, thou it was a bit tricky to switch from sweeping... And dude... get a better mace - mine is also crappy: but gives me main hand physical dmg 160-340 and dps 345 with default attack Fire dmg at this lvl suxx. MB later on it scales better, dunno. I switched all "added fire dmg" to "added phys. dmg". Here's my ring with endurance charge: I also use Ezo: The rest is blue-yellow with +HP. ------------------------------------------------------- @guide author: 1) nice resistances with this build, but no chaos resi. So far so good, but how's that on mercilles? 2) Iron reflexes rly worth 4 pts? I'm still early on, but I have only 200 evasion (all eq pure STR) - should I go towards reflexes or stop at diamond skin, and take these nodes lvl60+? " Thanks for the offer. I sent you a message - I'll just work through this - I think my main problem was being in areas where I was = to the monster level or 1 level below the monster level. That makes it hard to survive. I killed stuff fine, just took a lot of damage. Almost 50 now and at 56 I can use my 5L mace I found with my summoner. Casual Player - who likes microtransactions and hideouts.

I've been using this build as my first character. Up to level 47 now at the end of Act 2 Cruel, I've only just traded for my first item ever, my point being the build definitely works with junky gear and even not having all the skills listed (I still havn't found a leap slam for instance)
Great newbie build so I can get to end game and know what to expect for when building future toons, thanks for posting! |
