[1.0.3] The Caged God --- 2H WHATEVER godlike DPS build--updated tanky RT version
The 1/16 Physical Weapon Damage is an 'increased' modifier, meaning it's only additive to any other 'increased' modifier, namely STR bonuses and other physical bonuses, be it with staves, with skills or whatever.
Plus, 6.5% base Crit' Chance is rather low. It's an ok, fun, and pretty cheap build. But don't expect it to really shine by lategame. It won't, cause it lacks base damage. |

Currently running this build, I'm only lvl 68 but have 13k Double Strike DPS and 3.5k ST dps. No 5l/6l's or Astramentis.
Also, to someone who recommended Deshret's (I just bought a pair since they're cheap, and they reduced my DS dps by 1k) My current gear, I use the tri-res belt to be able to have max res till I'm able to upgrade my gear and have max res without the belt, then I'll replace it with a meginord's. (I really started using ST a lot when I got to Merciless) The routes I took are optimized I do believe and if you need some extra Dex or Int they are very close in the routes. Also the endurance charges are very near also. So if you need/prefer any of those nodes they are only 1-2 points away. Thanks again jrsyn. If I never saw this thread I probably never would have made it to Merciless for my first time. :D Last edited by TehDiablo#4884 on Jan 6, 2014, 5:12:42 PM

" +1 I've been running an almost identical passive skill build in Nemesis (the only difference is that I went horizontally across for IR; I didn't think of going up through Master of Arena). A few other minor differences e.g. I didn't take Amplify (is this beneficial for ST?) or Blood Drinker. Like you, I also switched over to ST in merciless. Currently level 59. DPS is a bit low (only because I'm poor) but otherwise so far so good. Still unsure about taking the staff block and life-regen-only nodes (come late game, I'm skeptical whether a few % of life regen would prevent a rip??) but then again it seems like there isn't anywhere better to spend the points. In any case your skill tree seems very solid, particularly for hardcore =) Last edited by SBOG4215#1354 on Jan 7, 2014, 6:50:00 AM

" Yeah going through master of the arena provides some additional defense and that acceleration is pretty nice. I just like that whole line of nodes pretty much. I took Amplify because I am still using Leap Slam here and there but I find my self using it less and less so it can be safe to spec out of when you make the jump to ST. Pretty sure Amplify don't work for ST and I would think Blood Drinker does work for ST because of Iron Grip. Yes now that I think about it them two 1% life regen nodes can be taken out end-game or not even picked up for that matter and about the block chance you end up with 25% total block in the end so I'm kind of on the fence about that one. As my build sits it has +250% Max Life and +34% Base Resist to all elements. If anyone is curious. Last edited by TehDiablo#4884 on Jan 7, 2014, 9:16:07 PM

How is the dps in the tanky/RT version? I wanna build around the Pillar, but would love to have the knockback you get from crits. Don't want to be killing myself on reflects all the time though.
I do plan on using ST, should I do the main suggested build (and just not use maligaro's and abyssus so my dps doesn't get to crazy-land) or should I run the tanky RT version? Basically what I'm asking, is there a middle ground? Last edited by TheTravelz#5508 on Jan 10, 2014, 7:02:50 AM

" I can't speak re. a middle ground, but I can speak re. the tanky RT version. My guy in Nemesis is currently level 64 (passive skill tree almost identical to TehD's above). No crit nodes. My DPS is sitting on about 1.5k with Faster Casting, Added Fire, LMP, and Hatred. The DPS is not great, but it was enough to self rush most of the game with relative ease (only starting to struggle a bit now that I'm up to Grav in Merc). My gear is rubbish (total cost < 1ex). I think if you could afford to gear your char properly, the DPS would be more than sufficient. |
