"Leaked" patch notes and concerns over changes
" Agreed 100%. The worst design decisions on some of the popular games recently have been made to please the vocal minority. |

Thanks for addressing this during your busy trip Chris.
I think people are always going to be upset when their characters are balanced, regardless if it the changes are fair or not. People develop an emotional attachment to their character and that's probably why there was such a large outburst on the forums when they felt their particular specs were in jeopardy. I think it's very important to make all these crucial changes before OB as the player base will be exponentially larger which will effect a great deal more people. After watching Kripp stream alpha, I have full confidence in the balance changes and the future difficulty of the game. Finally, you accidentally forgot to invite me to Alpha. No hard feelings, you need not reprimand the employee you instructed to do so. I'm a forgiving person. |

" Agree, a development team that is so devoted to their vision of what the game should beprobably best knows what to do. Also I really like the concept of keystone abilities having downsides, makes for a much more interesting builds. It already exists in the current tree where you can make clever use of keystones to get rid of the downsides (like Iron Reflexes+Unvavering Stance and such). Nothing to see here. I got no problems with what you're doing. If you nerf something too much, you can buff it a little bit again later. Going back and forth across the balance point helps you get there eventually, after all.
I'm so considering asking for time off from my new job for OB... |

People always complain when something changes, then accept it as if nothing happened after a few days or weeks, don't worry.

I'm the guy who made the Krippendium thread - oops ;). I guess I threw a bit of a wrench in your plans to put the Open Beta changes in the best light possible, which people should realize is something you're entitled to. Anyway, I hope the OB kicks gamers in the ass and all you guys at GGG get giant piles of money. This is a selfish wish because I fully expect you to use that money to make me 10 awesome Acts to play!
Can't speak for everyone, but for me, as long as you guys keep to the pursuit of improving the game (as an art form, not as a uh... political expression, or whatever you want to call D3 patches), and continue to keep an eye and an ear open to the community for ideas that may be better than yours, it's all good. |
|
I hope you keep an open beta server running post-release to test all this stuff. Or I could try to get into alpha, but I don't think I'll be successful.

Thanks for the reassurance, the balance changes were good, it opens up a variety of builds instead of the usual CI.

" I'm not upset they weren't in the best light possible (as I was prepared to just post the patch notes without any explanation once they're ready), but I just wished that the notes were at least complete and up to date. No worries though, I'll get accurate notes out soonish and hopefully people take the time to read them again. |
