yes, it is with haste and maxed power charges. without, it is natually much less, considering you have cold pen, mana leech, life leech, FP, GMP. None of them actually add to your tooltip dps - GMP actually reduces it by quite a lot. that leaves only 1 support gem and the passive nodes to complement your damage, and for a nemesis build, there is no way to get that much power out of your passive tree.

I was wondering what you do when you don't have enough dex to level gems like GMP. Would it be worth using a point into dex to get the level.

ofc
as CI self caster, you need some dex: blood rage (not so much, but still), GMP, codl pen need to be maxed. the 2x +30 dex nodes are excellent to supplement your items, and you can always respec out of them |

Isn't added cold damage stronger then cold pen?

cold pen gives you no tooltip dps increase whatsoever. but it always gives you a damage increase and is always better than added cold.
speaking of which, with the newest patch, i found that added cold damage is actually quite strong. -> for example, it benefits from your increased elemental damage from the passive tree and items - added chaos damage does not. -> it increases the amount of cold damage you deal with spells, so when you crit, you have much higher cold damage numbers than without, and freeze for a lot longer. but it comes with massive downsides: a) you'll need three green sockets: cold pen, GMP/LMP and added cold. On top of that, most builds also need mana leech and life leech. That is 5 off-colours on a vaal regalia. Good luck rolling that lol. I also found that for most cases, faster projectiles is superior: It gives you a little less tooltip dps, but the almost 20% damage increase is itself quite impressive: lvl 20 FP gives you 227,5 dmg, 20% = 46 flat increase, whereas added cold damage gives you flat 110. (i believe the numbers are crude, but correct, but prove me wrong, I'm eager to learn) But then you have to calculate in that Q faster projectiles also gives you another 10% cast speed increase, leaving you at approx. the same amount of damage increase - and cast speed on FP is godly. AND faster projectiles has a lower mana multiplier. |

I only have a 5 link atm and i swapped the mana leech for cold pen and added cold damage to use the tooltip to calculate my dps, i have a lvl 16 q 11 cold pen gem and a lvl 14 added cold damage gem where i compared them with and they were about equal in dps. (Mind you the added cold damage gem was 2 levels lower and has no quality)
Also the added cold dmg gem has a lower mana multiplier. I used tooltip dps times 1.31 to see how much dps the lvl 16 cold pen gives, thats the right way to do it no? |

" not really you see you dont really know the resist of the mobs but 30% cold pen doesnt necessarily mean that its a flat 30% more dmg a lot of calculations haves to be done to see the right DPS made since cold pen doesnt give you tool tip dps signature?

currently following this guide, atm level 75 on nemesis, only problem i have is that i dont have any 5l item i/e vaal regalia, i currently have a chest with ~600 ES and cant afford a 5l vaal regalia with a decent ES roll atm. i think with life leech i could feel a lot more safe on maps.

" you can 5link your 600 es chest instead, it takes about 100 fusing to 5link it and yes with life leech you will be able to deal and take damage at the same time aka tanking ;) signature?
