[0.10.0] Eldritch Battery Ethereal Knives Shadow [Videos Included]
" Well I wouldn't say I didn't follow the build. I accidentally took Eldritch and Doom Cast, so only 4 points out of the way. I have the orbs/refund points to revert, should I? For Normal it didn't really matter that I didn't have melee nodes, I just followed the build religiously and used DS with claws instead. I've been using Bear Traps/EK, but I need more caster items to get my mana, cast speed and spell damage up there. == Any idea on what kind of money I should pay for lvl 43 (A2 Cruel) items that fit these params? I don't know much about the economy and I don't want to waste orbs. IGN Generic_Player

" Yes refund those points. Drop Discipline. First things first. Make sure you have most of the right gems: Bear Trap (must be as high a level as you can use), Added Fire Damage, Culling Strike Ethereal Knives (must be as high a level as you can use), Fork (must be as high a level as you can use), Mana Leech, Added Fire Damage, Iron Will. Hatred, Reduced Mana. Spell Totem & Summon Skeletons. These are the most important gems to have and have leveled appropriately. If you are missing any you should trade to obtain them. Here's a good rule of thumb guide to prices for them: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0ArMlRb_rqvEwdGNpa0ZuXzJ1SEJzMUUtek9qZjQyeVE&toomany=true Here's a good orb exchange rate: --link removed-- Next, getting the right items We're going to craft some items first. It's probably the most cost efficient way of getting relatively good gear for your level without breaking the bank. You don't really need to trade for most of the stuff you'll be using until you reach the "End Game", otherwise you'll be outleveling the stuff you're wearing too quickly to justify spending all of those orbs. So what are you looking for? You're looking for a chest piece and a pair of boots (or a helmet). You want one piece to have 3 links and one piece to have 4 links. For the chest you probably want a pure armor chest piece, for the boots you'll probably want either a mixture of ES/Armor or just ES. For a helmet you'll probably just want pure armor. The 4L item should be 3 Green slots and 1 Red slot. The 3L item should be 2 Green and 1 Red. You can check the vendor for these and just farm easy to farm areas. The easiest areas to farm will probably be to the East of the Act 2 encampment. If you can farm both the Fellshrine Ruins and the Crossroads those are the perfect places to just go back and forth wiping out the map in search of yellows and white items with the right links. Once you have those items you should use an Orb of Alchemy on them. The stats aren't nearly as important on these items while you're leveling as having those gem slots is. So don't waste any orbs trying to get better stats. These items should hold you over until you find a better 3L/4L replacement. Gem these items the following way: 4L - EK + Mana Leech + Added Fire Damage + Fork 3L - Bear Trap + Added Fire Damage + Culling Strike These are the most important skills to have gemmed and linked. At your level having mana leech is much more important than having faster projectiles. Just because Faster Projectiles means more DPS statistically doesn't mean you have the mana pool to efficiently use it. I'll do more DPS in the long run because my EK is supported by my mana pool. Once those gems are all properly leveled you will be outputting massive amounts of damage. If you do have Chain, make sure you have it leveling in a free slot in your backup weapon slot. Fork outperforms Chain in the early levels and when Chain starts becoming better you probably don't have the mana pool to be throwing many Chain supported EKs. From memory my EK costs 40-50 mana per use with Fork, it costs nearly 100 with Chain. Now just be on the look out for other white 3L and 4L items (With the right color gem slots unless you have a tone of chromatic orbs to throw around) that are your level and replace the Chest/Helm/Boots as you level and just use an Orb of Alchemy on them as you do. If you get lucky you'll find a yellow 3L/4L to replace them with. Make sure to remember the stat priority: Life> ES/Mana > Armor > Spell Caster Rings/Amulet/Shield/Caster Weapon with Increased cast speed/Spell Damage/Critical Chance for spells. Next, you want to get two rings with +Mana Regeneration. These do not need to be yellow, so you can just grab rings from the vendor (Note: I've found that the Paua Ring is the easiest ring to get the +Mana Regen stat from, but if you can manage to get it on a +Life Ring that'd be better). The +Mana Regen is more important than getting yellow rings with +cast speed/damage/crit when you're leveling because of the mana pool issues. Once you have those rings I'd suggest +Life Amulet or a +All Attributes Amulet with the highest base stat you can find and using an Orb of Alchemy on it if you have some to spare or just using an Orb of Chance + Orb of Alteration until you get a decent caster neck. You want your caster shield to have +Spell Damge % as a base stat and a decent amount of ES. Once you find one just use either an Orb of Alch or a Orb of Chance and you'll likely get pretty decent stats on it. Now for a caster weapon, remember that dagger is only the suggested item. I would agree that the base +% Global Crit is much stronger than +Life Steal, but ultimately it's a matter of finding the right weapon with the right stats, it doesn't matter if that weapon is a Dagger, A Claw, a Wand, or a Mace. I like to look for a weapon that has +% Spell Damage, +% Mana Leech, And Mana/Life. You can either craft one these, farm one of these, or buy one of these. Honestly as you're leveling you'll probably find decent yellows. So I'd just suggest farming those areas I mentioned above until a decent item shows up. It shouldn't take more than a couple of hours to get a set of items for this build. If you're still suffering from mana pool issues look into getting a Reduced Mana support gem and link it with your Hatred aura. If you're still having problems then get a level 3 clarity gem (don't level it higher than 3) and link that with reduced mana and while you have a smaller raw mana pool the regeneration rate should be high enough to maintain as long as you aren't just spamming EK. I hope that helps. Last edited by ionface#0613 on May 23, 2013, 2:20:42 AM

How do you feel about Doedre's Tenure? -20% cast spell for 50% spell damage.
Curious how much of a DPS change it would be, it would also help Mana issues significantly. |

Hey, i followed your guide mostly and atm im lvl 65 grinding felshrine merciless.
I am still seeing myself having quite some manaproblems at the moment tho, im running 4 reduced mana auras but i cant use vitality instead of clarity at the moment, how much mana or at what point could i lose clarity ? my EK chain is EK > added fire > chain > mana leech > Faster cast(my highlvl friends suggested the faster casting) Thanks in advance |

" Whats the %mana increase from Faster Cast? I don't think that's a necessary gem and if it's increasing the cost of your EK too much then maybe just lose it. |
|
I don't think mana leech is a necessary gem at higher levels. Hell, it's not even useful at lower levels.

HI guys i am leveling this build up after losing my 70 ranger, quick question (using byrr's updated version for hardcore). How do you deal with the lack of resist nodes in the build, is it expected that all resists come through gear? Thanks!

Why is this guide better than this other? http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/74774/page/1
