Guide: Fireball CI Curser - Proliferated Burning Critical Fire Damage | In-depth | SC |

So I am in act 3 cruel, level 49, and have about 600 life, 450 ES. Piety in the crematorium one shot me. I'm dying more frequently than I was in Act 2. This is starting to worry me.

I guess I should look for ES gear, but honestly the trade system is a fucking mess and I have limited gameplay time. I don't see myself spending 5 hours looking for a trading gear AND I have limited resources. The searing touch staff has been going for exalteds (which I am nowhere close to having). I'm not really sure the best thing to do for my witch at this point.

As for as passives go, I've gotten the templar area nodes and I'm one point away from the perma curse node. After that I'll start venturing over to CI but obviously I need significant gear upgrades to be able to get that. Maybe I should reset three of the templar nodes (the arcane potency ones), so that I can go ahead and pick up the hex master and a strength node. That would give more flexibility with gear since my low strength is limiting my gear selection at the moment.

I typically do not have blood rage equipped (fire trap instead), but with limited green slots, I chose to level BR instead.

get yourself a capped lightning resist while you fight her, and get a topaz flask with a "dispel shock" mod. Play it safe, and don't hesitate to portal out of the area to heal and refill if needed.

Hello guys.

I've been slacking quite a lot with this guide since 1.0. The reason is i have started playing on domination and the time to play a new build has come. Still, i have been getting a lot of requests to update the guide so that is what i will do today.

I have just been tinkering a bit with this new skill tree and thus far i have come up with a new version that i think is it.

Changes to the build is that we are no longer using 4 auras. Clarity is the most important, followed by discipline then purity, and grace has never been very important. I recommend to use just two auras, Clarity and discipline. It is now easier for us to maintain mana costs since we are reserving less of our pool and gain more regen from clarity when using inner force and influence.

My witch is using below build right now at level 88 (techincally level 89 had i chosen mana as bandit reward as i should have). Notice i have the "Throatseeker" crit multiplier circle chosen, i can do that because my chest refuses to become 6-linked, even after 4k fusing... If i had a 6 link i would have been using those 5 points on mana regen/pool instead to maintain the increased mana cost. Also notice i have taken no +30 Str nodes, and only one +30 dex node. That is because i have the rest on my gear, and you may need to adjust until you can find gear to cover that.

Above build matches my gear:

I still use 4 auras in my gems, it's just the good old pre-1.0 gear.

33.2% Crit chance (before critical weakness)
217.5 Mana/sec
6844 Energy shield

About maxed resistances (lack a few lightning since no longer using purity but the same old gear)

As you may notice there are some free sockets to use in the gear. In my head i am no longer using purity, and because of that, i have one socket left. That socket could for example be used for empower, depending on how your mana pool handles the increased cost. It should be very possible to run empower on those two auras now that we only have to use two auras. Another possibility is to run purity when you have a large mana pool, but it will reserve almost the entire pool which is not recommended since you probably have slightly less mana regen than it takes to cast nonstop with arctic armour on.

Because of not using grace/haste in my setup anymore, i have the entire 4-linked gloves open for any use. There i would suggest some sort of "Cast when damage taken" combination to save you if you should get caught. I have not tested that yet, but i imagine there are some very defensive things you could use, for example decoy totem if that can be triggered could probably be a life saver.

I am also using Reduced Duration with Lightning Warp now, a sick combo.

I will look into editing the guide now..

EDIT: Actually i will probably not update the guide right now. I want to test out what things work well with cast when damage taken first. That i will do on my new witch in domination. Hope this helps thus far. Updated intro so others may find this post in case they want to see changes.

Hi can you give some ideas with skill tree, what points to take first, if it is possible maybe to write 0-20, 20-40, 40-60 points.

Thank you
I guess I need to farm in Act 2 cruel for enough currency to buy some ES gear. Sceptre of God and the Dominus fight equated to many many deaths. I'm also at the point where I need to head over to CI on the passive tree. Current build at 52

Any idea how much currency I should anticipate spending on ES gear?

I also haven't picked up Searing Touch. It costs several exalted, which I am far from having.
My current build at 64

My gear, which is quite an upgrade from my last post:
Spoiler

This build has been fun to play. I have survivability issues at times due to my low resists, but if I manage to stay away from the mobs, I mostly do not have a problem. It works well for grouping but on most end-game bosses (Piety, Dominus, etc) I typically die a lot.

Good to see you back Crackmonster was having fun playing this build before I took a break.
IGN: Vladivar
The time has come! I am gonna play this character again and have some ideas of what im gonna do. I'm gonna grab sovereignty as well then get purity of fire for this build as well, amongst other things.

For now i think itll be decoy totem summon skeletons and some yet unknown to be used with cast when damage taken.

This build has taken some serious boost even though power of curses has been reduced on bosses, but aura changes have made this one a beast and CwDT is going to make me near invincible.

CwDT + Summon skeletons + Decoy totem + Summon Skeletons/Summon Spectre/Raise Zombie

Unfortunately CwDT + Summon Spectre is Bugged.

This character has never been stronger lol, this poor content is getting farmed up real hard.
When i take damage i spawn a decoy totem which taunts, 2 skeletons and it attempts to raise a zombie also. That makes me much much less likely to be gibbed. Purity of Fire makes me much more capable of dealing with reflect, i will end up at 82% fire resistance and 92% with a ruby flask. All in all, this is just insane and it is extremely satisfying to spawn minions and shit without having to do it manually.

Currently I am sitting at 7290 energy shield with a potential 400-700 more base ES or so possible from items if i had near perfect ones, but i do not need it which is why i go for power over best possible ES.

The build also has become less gear reliant, this is because of aura changes which boost your energy shield through discipline and your mana regen through clarity.

In 3 days there should be some changes coming to Damage over time effects, we'll see if the build requires any updates before i can update further.

Also this build has a proper video still coming, the first video is ancient and since then this build has become much more powerful, and my gear is aeons ahead of what i was using in that. Muhahaha :)

[LINK]The build lvl 89 with +40 mana bandit reward

So yea! It feels good to dust off this most favorite character of mine after a good 4-5 months break!

I have a question for you because I can't seem to make sense of your current build considering the initial post. Do you want mana regen or not? I'm not sure if your build is meant for solo play or not. It feels like youre trying to eschew mana regen talents in favor of better auras when possible, but is that because better discipline is the real goal which happens to have a side effect of also helping mana regen?

I just rerolled my 80 witch (this build) into a now 55 witch because I agree with you on the initial point expenditure. A few things though:

- no 12% spell damage on the very first talent?
- no mental acuity? (2 points = 20% mana regen, 30% crit chance, 30 int)
- no throatseeker? (guessing those 5 points went towards sovereignty)
- how important is faith and steel?
- hows the sovereignty playing out?
- i just dont get the points between celestial walker and amplify! hear me out:

Why not cut all 6 points (-21% increased elemental damage, -40% mana regen, -8% increased radius of area skills) to get prestidigitation/mental acuity ? Consider what you get: [+8% max mana, +6% cast speed, +40% mana regen, +7% reduced mana cost of skills, +40 int, +30% increased crit chance]

I know its a lot of questions but I'm trying to make sense what are the priorities and whether or not its meant for group play or not. Theres an 'over' emphasis on auras which hints to me its group-oriented but at the same time you said only 2 auras are used now (clarity/discipline) which should clear up mana. Are you running more? Thanks again for your time.

I could be wrong, but here's how I understand the choices Crackmonster made :

About the nodes you'd like to swap around :
21% elemental damage + 8% aoe VS 40 int + 30% crit

Elemental damage is needed to make your crit worth the investment. If the base damage is low, the crit damage will likely be low. And the 30% crit chance only add 1.8% to the total crit chance of fireball.
As for the AoE and sovereignty, with the changes that were made to the auras, and considering this build runs three curses, I'd guess he wants to get as much aura effect and radius as possible to fulfil a better support role in his party. Which makes perfect sense in my opinion.

On the build itself : I'm glad to see it coming back to life ! I played an old version of this a while ago, and I might give it a shot again later.
