So I finally managed to have some time to play this build. Going pretty well so far. Loving the heck out of it! I even went as far as to get the alternate skill art for fireball spell. Flaming, flying, exploding dragons everywhere. My life is pretty fun at the moment! :D
But then I came up to the bandits and was pondering what choice I should make. Your guide clearly states to kill them all, since they oppose your natural rule, which is obviously very true. But then you continue to go on claiming that you'd need as much mana as you can get. Also, faster casting is a key element within this build, if I read this thread correctly. So that got me thinking and puzzeling and here is my alternative plan for the bandit quest: Normal: help Alira for the +40 mana. Cruel: help Alira for the 6% cast speed, then respecc those cast speed nodes at the beginning of your tree and get the spell critical chance ones, losing only 3% cast speed and gaining 55% crit chance. Merciless: BURN THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF ANYONE STANDING IN THE WAY OF TOTAL SUPREMACY MUAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!! At the cost of two skillpoints. Good idea, yea or nay? <3 | |

if somebody is bored sometime, they could test if it was possible to launch a fireball with your high spelldamage wand + shield, then swap to searing touch before it lands, to benefit from burning damage. :D

" Checking back in to report that speccing EE with the ice spear totem has resulted in a quite noticeable increase in one shot hits and clearing speed. I'm using fire trap in the searing touch (FT-chance to ignite-conc effect-elemental prolif) with an LMP - fireball combo to hit anyone left standing after the FT. With the GMP ice spears, the mobs are constantly getting the -50% debuff from EE before the initial big FT hit and for the burn damage thereafter. Here's a link to a reddit thread from a guy who uses a similar concept to one hit double Brutus map bosses by using shock nova to proc EE + generate shock stacks + uses curses to set up a huge fire debuff for the FT explosion/burn. Thanks op for revealing the power of Proliferate and the unecessaryness of LMP. Currently rerolling my Dual Dagger crit fire ball shadow into a shadow variation of your spec =).

Hi all. Does Bloodthirst and Serpent Stance not work for Fireball? I was thinking of doing something like this (at least while still using Searing Touch) if it did work.

Bloodthirst and serpent stance should work fine with fireball if you go that route.
About those two 10% burning damage nodes, well, right now i don't have them, but when i get a couple of more items i will unlearn my 12% maximum mana point and 30 str node and place them there instead. They are pretty good, i didn't have them in my original build, but i changed it a few days ago and freed up points to take them. Hello !
First of all, thanks for the build, I was struggling with a poorly built (and rather boring) ice/crit witch, i'm now enjoying a brand new one which packs a significantly stronger punch :) I also thougt about building the ice spear combo (still useful in parties) but didn't want to rush it, as I feel higher crit chance is needed to proc high burning damage. My skill tree, level 40 : Next ten points will be used to "close" the shadow tree : (I may reconsider the two fire points depending on my needs for more ES/recovery at that time) Then I'll probably invest few points in a more "defensive" keystones, rather than purely building crit : 11 points granting 20% all resist, 43% increased ES, 20% elemental damage (aswell as some armor int/str). Considering i'll keep my searing touch for a while (managed to 5S - 4L it w/o much effort) i'll then try to grab the Serpent stance (which sounds pretty awesome), taking another bloodthirst on the way. Only after that will I get the dual curses, hopefully i'll buy one (if not both) of the rings in the meantime. Chaos Innoculation whenever it feels like a good idea. Any thoughts/criticism/advice on my progression path are welcome :) To learn is to live...

I'm kinda new but I wonder why you didn't go for power charge and mana on kill nodes...
I'm happy to see such a great fire build rather than the typical ice crit ones. Keep it up! |
