Are you pleased with Purity change... if no how would you make it

Just an FYI. This patch is just a net buff to me. I become stronger in every way from this patch, because I can run 10 auras, and was currently running a few auras that do nothing for me (like Wrath and Anger). I'm not complaining because this is making me weaker, rather it's going to give me 2% more all resist once I level the gems up. However; I fully see what this is going to do to everyone that isn't running such an extremely niche build. I think it would be blind of anyone to think this patch is good for the state of solo play.

Please post screenshots, even a video of you running 10 auras before you claim you can.

I've already taken every reduced mana reservation node on the tree and with reduced mana at level 16, it only cuts down aura costs on 60% auras to 25%. You cant run 10 of those.

Is this still beta?
I can understand how strong the current purity is with the added aura nodes, but:

To answer OP:

- are you pleased with purity change: as a purity user obviously not.

- if no how would you make it: well since the game has been released less than a month ago, 2 fresh ladders are running, i would certainly proceed with caution before nerfing a common pool gem to the ground.

My idea would be: "+1% to all res cap", so the scaling with aura nodes would be halved.
"purity of element overcap does not stack with the resist overcap from other auras" (this to prevent aura stacking and ele dmg immunity)

Therefore solo/small parties can use purity for a small benefit, and dedicated groups/auramancers can run the 3 new auras for ridic overcap.

Best of both worlds: one "easy" path but low gain, other "hardcore" with huge benefits.

Instead of: "Purity is now worthless at high level. Please consider re-making your build/gear 1 month into ladder. Sorry we didnt balance our game before release."

Change is good, and more options means more fun to me. However I'm hoping the team realizes this change is drastic for solo/small parties trying to explore end game content, and finds a solution that doesnt involve a gem/build/gear-breaking nerf.

There are (unless I missed some nodes) 46% reduce mana reservation in the tree mix that with http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Prism_Guardian, http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Alpha%27s_Howl and lvl 20 reduce mana gem and you can run more than just 10

Alpha's Howl reduces costs by 8% and Prism Guardian is another 25% reduction.
6 auras on mana (3 40's% 2 60%'s, and Clarity) and 4 on life (3 60% on Prism and Tempest Shield linked to blood magic off the item)

Honestly just do the math. A screenshot isn't available until the patch hits because the auras to make this happen don't exist yet.

EDIT: Frankly I could do 11 (12 if the rounding is favourable) but I don't have enough gem slots to actually have a good skill to attack with after adding 1 or 2 more auras.

well, I see quite a few threads stating gem y is op, and in the same forum you see people saying monster x is op.

x*OP = y*OP |*1/OP => x = y
Shouldnt that nullify the OP factor? or is my meth off.

just got used to the recent aura changes, that put me out of my 5 auras, and now i should be pleased about this?

hardly likely

Didn't factor in those uniques, but also don't confuse tempest shield as an aura, its a maintained buff.

And I suppose that shield only drops in maps right? That and an alpha howl would be great for me.

Not sure where the shield drops, purchased it (3 exalts on Domination)
I consider Tempest an Aura because it's cost is reduced by aura reservation reduction nodes, so that means the game classifies it as an aura.

Please note that Prism also has forced blood magic, so it's uses are somewhat limited if you are life based; I'm low life so I can get away with that though.

But getting back to the point that started that small arguement. I might be able to do it, but I'm clearly incredibly specialized for auras. Most players can't and this is just a complete nerf.

With every other Aura being changed to 60% reservation and Purity left at 40% in the previous patch, did everyone who didn't run Purity before not AUTOMATICALLY, and almost FORCEABLY turn to Purity as a result?

If you rolled a new character post patch I'm betting 95% of you took purity.
(Hmm ... 60% + 40% + reduced cost, I'm frankly stupid NOT to assume and run this setup.)

This further change is a direct result of the previous patch and the Devs apparent lack of planning and/or apparent "wait-and-see"/"nerf-and-buff" approach to balancing.

People who have been with this game for a long time now have come to expect such changes, "it's beta", that's fine in beta but now we're not. At what point are the BASIC MECHANICS going to be finalized in this game?

GGGs "Short-term Leagues and Races" approach towards game design is really becoming evident to me and I'm not sure it's really the correct way to balance a this type of game.

In summary: The only reason this change wasn't implemented with the previous aura changes.

1) Devs, (or one or two sane ones), didn't want to TOTALLY screw over all existing builds completely, (ie. closed/open beta supporters), by making Purity 60% at release.

2) Devs couldn't predict the strength of Purity with the new aura nodes. (really?)
Oh, I assumed the blood magic on that shield only affected gems within the shield. NVM then.

My life based aura build cant do more than 4 auras on mana, and 2 on life, not that the latter is easy to do either due to needing that life to survive.
