Dec 17: 1h Solo HC

Overall I think I like this race over the 3h one. Much more intense all the way through. People will say RNG is what decides who wins, and the shorter the race is the more that is true, but I feel like these races are much more entertaining and enjoyable than the 3hour ones.

This race had a lot of risk/reward. The people who went to act 2 and the people that stayed in act 1 were VERY close to each other. I think this is the kind of race that is just the right balance of that risk/reward behavior.

This wasn't turbo.
Turbo will definetly end up in coves, since brutus takes far more time.

I was almost 17 just farming coves, fyi.

Level 17-18 is definetly possible but you must go glass cannon and don't take a single life node.

I was pretty close to top 10 when I reached the coves but I decided to grind caverns and ended up 13 and 97%. Doing that cost me a 10 minute lead and friends being in lower prison while I was at coves even get me.

I should have done merveil because level 13 in forest is matter 30 seconds and lvl 14 in river crossing too.


But the main problem of races is that it's only a race to grind spots.
And then the remaining time are resetting the instances which should end up in a penalty on races.


Another interesting format would be a "kill uniques,do all quests and no instance reset" format to progress.
95% of the players skip fetid pool.
On longer races hailrake gets done before brutus on prison wp or the 2nd ledgerun.
Kuduku gets skipped by most players.

The game makes it far too easy to skip areas unless it's turbo then an early rip at mud flats and upper passage is quiet possible.


Forcing players to kill uniques will heavily slow skipping down.
Kuduku is quiet able to kill several rush builds.
Same goes for burning menace.

Had a wicked Terrace map, the one where Tidal is in the middle, and I think myapeli was first to Ledge before I even got to Mud Flats :(

8th overall and 2nd Marauder here, I think top 10 is about all I could hope for in this format.

It was kind of fun and I liked how short-lived it was, and every move felt like a gamble.

Had a pretty poor race overall (strong start but everything went downhill from there) I didn't get any currencies until the last 10 minutes.

Nessa didn't want to sell me anything this game, I thought it was a joke.. No coral rings nor leather belt... had to drop them in coves. Fought brutus with barely 100 hp... Entered coves at lvl 8 few seconds after the first one. Farmed there till the end... Still managed to get 7th overall and 2nd ranger.

My uber final gear ! Yeah I know, I had no ammy^^

great race. had a pretty bad time after brutus, but according to poestatistics, 12 minutes in the forest made me jump over 34 people and i finished 7th.

GG. I experienced much less desync than usually. This 1h race format is very refreshing, I tend to lose focus in those 3h races anyway :). 1.5h and 2.5h races could be interesting too.

My race was mix of good and bad luck. I hit ledge early and then had terrible luck with mob variation, only few mobs here and there in a full run. My gear was crappy until Brutus, no weapon with increased damage, no ms boots, only few orbs, so I falling behind. I also had terrible prison maps, basically fully explored both maps before getting to Brutus. I was like 5-10 min behind the lead. After killing Brutus he dropped:


That mallet has lvl 12 requirement so it took some time before I could use it. I got to act 2 with about 10-15 min left. Also found these during the race:

Had a blast did some different practice before the race and went for river crossing farming in the end, got like 11 min farming since I played it kinda safe act 1 with all white gear.

Bursted in river crossing though and got some good pieces of gear from merveil including large life flask and large mana.

Wanted to get the dreaded thicket clear ^^, but yea even with some crazy practice runs I only managed to clear weaver chamber and step into the chamber of sins before 1h mark

This is much better since progressing is actually rewarding, would love to have some races where only progress matters.


** ISSUE WITH BRUTUS **
Yea I know I abused a bug for killing brutus but I can kill him in like 5-10 seconds less doing it the normal way. This was something I discovered during my practice runs today.

well i died to desynching roas at mud flatts
however turned out 2nd shadow =(
could have won if didn't die in such a stupid manner, farming river crossings was HUGE exp every minute there was really good
