I had too much fun with this ^^ Thanks for the challenge! I wish I was a better artist so I could make some images for the items also. I really enjoyed trying to relate it to some sort of lore, and I wish there was more lore and background story to read up on. But the dark mystery of a continent full of horrors is also very interesting.

Something that gave me a mfw (insert suprised face) moment was when I realized every living person (including NPCs) on Wraelcast was at some point an exile cast off into sea.

I tried to make the items to match something that existing uniques don't quite cover.

1. Key to Sarn - Well, the lore doesn't say how Sarn became a ghost town (or maybe I missed it). I imagine the last ruler locking the place up with all kinds of arcane magic, but of course he is too filled with pride to also destroy the key and seal the horrors. So I think this item should reflect something powerful and also the fact that you must pay a high price for your power and greed. With this, if you cause shock, burn or freeze on enemies, it will also be caused on yourself.

2. Spices of Oriath - Maybe my favorite item. I imagine a small ring with a crystal box, filled with all the most exquisite and rare fragrances of Orioth, some lost forever with the only known remnants sealed in the ring. Brought to Sarn by the invaders and subsequently lost.

3. Undying of Sarn - Well, we know there are some "Undying" living in Sarn, from the lore. I imagine this is one of the ancient ones, captured long ago. He was immortal, but weak in his physical form. So the cruel captors flayed him and tore his face off, and used it as a macabre mask. Even in his flayed form, the Undying lives, because he is immortal. The special ability, spectral shell, is an interesting twist to evasion that I'd like to try out in the game personally. You could imagine it as you are inflicted by the weakness of this flesh mask you wear, but at the same time you are inspired and have the chance at immortality (endurance charges) :)

4. Arcane Shreds - I thought it was a nice concept with the flying ribbons and such in the new act. This is something of the same magic. I imagine it a bright red, flowing sash that has a life of it's own, dangerous but under control and tamed.

5. Eorgil's Warmth - A spirit of the earth and a protector of those who dwell in caves and deep fissures of the world. I imagine this item as kind of an ethereal sash that shimmers, glows and shifts with the wind. A low level item that can provide a good boost to resistance if you happen to find it, much like an unexpected guardian spirit.

6. Coin of the Eternal Empire - Made of some strange metal, inscribed with some long forgotten emperor. A coin from ancient times that still wields a power you can't ignore. Probably one of my favourites as well, I like the benefit you could gain if you're willing to take the downsides as well.
Spoiler
One side of the coin should be this coin picture to the left:

7. Bloodboiler - Since there are so many fire talents for melee (especially marauder), it'd be nice with a one handed fire damage weapon. I also like the image of setting enemies' blood to fire and watching them bursting out in flame.

8. Madness of Hellrum - Just for fun. Admiral Hellrum is a crazed pirate (perhaps related to Fairgraves) who went down with his ship on a cold and stormy night. They say it was his boots that carried him to these insane adventures...

9. Merna's Rope - I imagine Merna as the grand mason of old Sarn. After building the city, she was hung by the emperor so that noone may know the secrets of the city but him. However, it seems this betrayal birthed some dark magic. The black heart buff/debuff might be interesting to try, basically you'll end up weak and frail, but you'll stay alive as long as you keep minions alive. Much like how Merna clung to her existence even as she was killed.

I've got a template up and ready but I don't know how to embed it into the forums. Anyone able to send me a PM or something to help?
Just make screenshot and post image of it.
Of the Uniques I've done for this thread, this is the one I feel the most for. I really hope this gets chosen by any of the judges because I think it has an interesting mechanic going for it, and it fits well with the background. Don't be confused by the fact there are two tooltips. It's one item! Read and you'll understand =):

Staff Form:

Maul Form:

As you can see, it takes both Swap slots and pressing Weapon Swap will change forms. It has the same requirements on both so this shouldn't be a problem.

The background is that it's an arcane Vaal relic, a very powerful mechanical-arcane weapon.

In one "form" it charges you up while keeping you protected, and in the other, it blasts away all the accumulated energy in devastating strikes (Note that in Maul form, that percentage of mana is added to your base physical damage, so this should deal tremendous amounts of damage at high mana).

EDIT: By the way, I kind of feel bad for not saying it before, but thank you very, very much XvXReaperXvX for making this possible. I always had the dream of having an item of mine in PoE, but unfortunately it is completely out of my reach. Even if it's a slim chance, what you've given me (and others) is an incredible gift. Thanks!
