DonaldF's EK DANMAKU Ranger Extremely High DPS /Jan.14 little update [Videos]

I am not a huge fan of this build...

The survivability is just not there at least for me, but I have a very similar build with 2h weapon for the Spectral Throw in cases where mobs can freeze or stun you. I run around 12k def with almost 70% damage reduction and 75/75/75/30 resists. The survivability is there and I have a bit over 30% crit chance with my 500dps axe, which are great to use with double strike+multi.

Yes it is not the same as 2 dagger with insane crit, but in my case when I do that I get rubbernecking when I run 2h setup.

Post your gear. I farm Dominus 10-20 times a day with barely a death. Topaz potions help a ton. I assume you're resist capped?

Are you on a ranger or a scion TheBigNasty? i see earlier posts in this thread seem like you are playing on a scion?

Hey I'm also looking for help with my gear. I've only been playing about 2 weeks on domination but I think I managed to get pretty good gear. I luckily found my 6 slot armor haha. I'm replacing my can't be frozen ring with hopefully a diamond ring with all res.

But what else should I upgrade to stay alive? How do you deal with chaos mobs in maps especially? I can't really afford chaos resist in any of my slots.

I have both over level 80.
I try to respond with my experiences as the class the question was directed at.

I'm sure this is gear related, but I actually find this build (ranger) far more survivable than most other popular ranger builds. For example, I know it's a bit out of favor, but the LA ranger I had died far, far more than the EK crit variant.

I do have one of my 3Ls with a cwdt, critical weakness, and decoy totem. One of my 4L is cwdt, leech, molten shell, and EK. Otherwise, it's mostly what's posted in the original post.

Currently my ranger has the tabula and my scion has a 6L armor, and I run with Rat's nest as a helm- but I try to share experiences prior to making those gear changes. I assume the information is of little use if the gear requirements are such that a vast majority of the population doesn't have access to them.

All that put together, I was farming Dominus quite easily with worse gear in the OP and much, much worse than I have now. By far the biggest way to survive Dominus is topaz flasks. On both my chars, I have 2 with Surgeon's prefix (recharge on critical strike). 2 health pots, 2 topaz flasks, and a diamond flask. The only time I die is something desync related- either when I miss phase 1's lightning or when desync carries me outside the bubble in phase 2.

I can't stress enough how important an /oos macro is if you are using Cyclone.

Your gear looks pretty good. How are your resists? It also looks like you could use some more + life gear.
I don't see a blood magic gem, so I assume you don't run into any mana issues? Do you have enough resist?

About the only thing I would work on is getting another diamond ring as you suggested and maybe running some of your gear through an Exalt or two.
Aside from that, it looks pretty good.

As far chaos, I really don't have an answer. In the maps I do, they hurt but I try to employ a kill them before they kill you strategy. I also adjust my pots based on what map I'm in and it's not uncommon for me to run 5-6 health pots. I spent a lot of time working on the types of pots I wanted, so that's another thing to shoot for.

Though I haven't tested blood magic route yet. I will with my tabula. I really need to work on my flasks I have totally ignored them. Right now I'm leveling up a scion with your build in mind.

Being resist capped is kinda required imo. Otherwise, shoot for life, damage, and IIR/IIQ if applicable.
Dropping one of those uniques for a normal item with + resists should set you straight.

Hello again. I've been playing with this build. Right now I'm level 30 ranger just starting act 3 normal(yeah I realize the level is to high cuz I'm a hunt lover guy :D). This is my current gem setup:

Spectral Throw - Faster Projectile - LMP
Cleave - Double Strike - Added Fire
Ethereal Knives
Purity of Ice
Split Arrow - LMP - Item Rarity (this is for hunting, as bow my 2nd)

And my potions setup:
2 health potion
1 mana potion
1 hybrid potion
1 quicksilver flask

My question is, should I stick with this until Dominus? Or maybe you suggest me to try starting build my gem according to the guides? I've been trying to use Cyclone, but the mana cost and survivability kinda bugged me.

why u use the two notes doom cast and spellpower.both didnt work with ek st or cyclone?

Because EK is a spell :)

He is trying to double dip... crit on cyclone to trigger EK and crit EK to trigger EK again
