DonaldF's EK DANMAKU Ranger Extremely High DPS /Jan.14 little update [Videos]
This build is still very viable in end game maps, and you don't even need to switch to Spectral Throw. You just need better gear to survive. Granted, I haven't gotten the chance to do 73+ maps yet, but I just ran a lvl 70 and 71 map without problems. And my character is only lvl 77. I also killed Dominus pretty fast. Here is my setup:
My Crit is at 70%, EK is at 2600, and nothing is max level yet. It's important to not be afraid to spam your flasks, even in slightly dangerous situations, because they recharge so fast. Desync can hurt at times, but I've found that getting the saw-blade cyclone effect and the alternate EK animations helped to decrease the desync a little. (This could be just my mind playing tricks on me, but I think it does help.) Also, I think it's important to NOT neglect hit. You need hit in order to crit, and it's a good idea to get 1600+. I even went down 2 nodes to Depth Perception for the 20 Dex 20 Accuracy to help with consistency. If you don't hit, you don't crit, and your life drains fast. Loving this build. Hope this helps... " Blood magic resolves the mana regen problem. Each phase of Dominus takes me about 10 seconds. The only dangers I have is desync on the first phase missing his lightning attack and second phase with blood rain. Most of the time it's not an issue. 2 Topaz flasks test to help with that as well. |

Hey guys,
I'm trying to construct this build as my first ranger failed miserably. I have more or less read the whole thread, but still have some questions. I'm in lvl 33 right now on cruel and still just spamming rain of arrows, because i can't seem to get a proper 2H weapon with low str. As the passives are now you don't gain much str. So how do you guys lvl up midgame? I can tell this bow thing will be the end of me soon :b |

" Did you craft those items or bought on trade? Really curious, because I'm dying to switch to daggers, but I just started PoE and this is my first char, hence I don't have much currency! ;( | |
Both daggers I found when I was playing my 2handed Spectral Throw Scion, and I was lucky I didn't vendor them. lol. I'm looking for a better pair of Platinum Kris's though. I bought the 2 rings... 1 for 10 chaos, another for 1 exalted. The chest I bought for 6 exalts, 10 chaos. All the other items are self found. I crafted all the flasks...

" Hey, can u post your tech tree then? its it exactly like the original one? |

Here is my passive setup:
http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgIAAAYB0QR-BX0F-Q5IEZYV8BX2GYob-iP2JDwk_SXfJpUnqSmlLYM0kzpYR35JUUp9TipQQlM1VUtW6lb6WkhabVuvXfJieWKsY3BlTWegbWxte25pcFJwVnDVfXV-WX_GhNmHGYd2iEKMNpAblwaaE5uNm7Wdo52qoSKiLqJApBmnXK_rtUi2Qbl8u-O-p8APwFHBxcSi0O7STdN-1QDWndvU3Q3nVOn-7g7veu_j7_DyHfPq9Pj3o_yr_MX-ug== I made some changes to the original tech tree setup. I disregarded the 4 Evasion/Life nodes at the start of the ranger tree because they are not that efficient. I just a Stun Recovery node (which sucks) in order to connect down to Heart of Oak, so that frees up 3 passives. Then I specced out of Charisma and the reserve mana nodes. They add a decent amount of DPS because of Hatred, but I think the main reason Donald has them is to give him a little more mana to work with so he doesn't have to use blood magic and just use mana leech. I think that's a fair option, and I might try it later on. The other change I did was go to Depth Perception, which gave me a ton of accuracy. When I have enough accuracy in gear, I'll specc out of this and put it in some Crit Multiplier nodes. |

Just dinged 70 last night and have been running this build since about 55 and been wrecking face. At this point the only reason I group is to use the other people as item mules so more loot drops for me. This is because I out dps everyone else in the group combined. Literally the only thing that trips me up at all is reflect. I will post my gear layer again as it has been greatly upgraded.
My question is why not use the points to go vaal pact to deal with reflect? My dps is already insane and i can kill most things quickly, so if the only reason not to go VP is because my damage be lower than if I didn't, I can deal with that. So far the reason has been "because I said so" At this point I think that is the missing link for me and my gear at least, to be invincible. Anyone see a big reason vaal pact is a bad idea? It looks like it would take 8 points to get there (going off of Donald's original build) Last edited by viper9494#1345 on Nov 19, 2013, 4:54:39 PM

" The common misconception with Vaal Pact is that it actually does something other than eliminate leech build time. With the damage output of this build, its hard to not be leech capped, however Vaal Pact won't help you unless you're actually dying while healing because you just get chunked too hard. Most of the time against elem reflect, you kill yourself instantly unless you switch out of hatred, then the problem is largely eliminated. Against physical reflect with the right gear you should be able to mitigate enough damage to not be killed by it. So VP would help against physical reflect in very specific situations, but for the 9 or so points it might just be better to find some extra health to just raise your leech cap in the first place, and gain effectiveness against all other damage types as a bonus. 2

Well the only reason I die is because leech refills life too slowly so I still see VP as a possible solution. you have a good point but I think going vp would allow for even less worrying while playing. (Aka being able to be more lazy)
