[1.0.X] [Witch/Templar] Multiple discharge + cast on damage + cast on stun = AFK mass destruction
" It seems you are right...didn't think about that! thanks for the suggestion. Any recommendations on what I should put in my last slot? or maybe I can do like 1 Ice spear on cast when stunned on the boots or something. Not sure I'll have to theory craft later |

" I use fireball and ice spear with CwDT because they are different spells (CwDT 250 ms cooldown actually applies to each linked spell of different type separately, according to my tests, might be wrong). I also use two ice spears with CwS because CwS proc chance seems to calculate separately for each linked spell. So both ice spears can not proc at once but procs happen more often overall and ice spear crits are more reliable than of a fireball even at the cost of possible doube procs (at least that's my current point of view, might change). I also use lvl 1 ice spears and freballs to take minimal damage from reflect. |

I don't understand how things are working with magick damage. for example - blue dog-like creatures in docks. If the are coming to me as a pack - i'm dead for sure. tried different combination of gems - nothing works. If they are spamming theyr magick i will only spam ice spears and fireballs like mad, and die like a frog on biology lesson :( If the hit me with physical attack - i will discharge. Is it some kind of bug? Same goes for all magick users - i will die if they use only magick attack.
Here is my gear set:

Thx for your advice guys. I can make a video if you want. |

" I believe their fire attacks do not stun us, because it's based on a series of very fast, lower damage attacks (like incinerate). This way our main Discharge generators (the two CwStun) do not work. They too eat my ES away and kill me without a single discharge proc, only if some mob hits me with a physical attack. I think that's the case because the charge generators linked to Cast when Damage Taken fire as they hit me, but the discharges linked to CwStun don't. What I do is try to lure them near skeletons or other mobs and have them proc my discharges. Or I just run and leave them behind. Sometimes the Discharge linked to the leveled Cast when Damage Taken fires when they attack me, but I'm dead by then anyway. Last edited by Os_Pirata#3858 on Dec 30, 2013, 4:11:00 PM

" well it worked well from lvl 71-78. I started doing 66-68 maps and was just wrecking maps no problem. I ended up dieing RIP discharger >.> to about 3 necro rares. one with corrupted blood, another with storm herald and the last with blessing of elements I believe. They casted critical weakness on me and storm herald got me to 3 stacks of shock as I was laid waste to the 35 other white/blue mobs around lol! Owell I plan on continuing this build on Standard as I just bought a not the best roll but I can devine it / bless =P Keep it up with videos the last one was pretty entertaining. |

I use one cwdt and one cws gems linked to discharger.

" That was a really dangerous combo indeed. Looks like it is necessary to overcap resists for any chance of getting ele weaknessed and avoid 'less max resists' to not to rip. Might need even dispel shock and curse immune flasks. Still can get out of control as the spells are not cast manually. Hope you'll like the amulet :). We can now even duo run some maps for fun. I'll make new videos if I ever happen to get to highest map levels or roll some insane mods... |

" Hmm, I went to docks to test it and that's what comes to mind: 1) Both physical and magic damage can stun. As Os_Pirata just mentioned a couple posts above, small hits don't stun and CwS does not proc. 2) CwDT does eventually proc from both physical and magic damage as well, including dog incenerte spell. 3) Dogs sometimes make physical hits that can stun and proc CwS. 4) To reliably survive and kill dogs it is important to stay alive long enough for CwDT to proc. 5) To stay alive long enough there are two options: 1) get more energy shield and 2) get ES regen from Shavronne's Revelation in right slot. 6) I took off the ring, both CwS gems linked to discharges (only one CwDT left), disabled ES aura and went to docks to test. I also tried to lure some dogs to verify that their spell damage counts towards CwDT damage cap and triggers it. Here is the result: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8g-IPaB_YQ. Video is totally boring, but it's for science, not for fun :)! TL/DR: Didn't rip or go noticeably below lvl 19 CwDT threshold (3080 damage taken), dogs proc CwDT with all attacks as expected. 7) Please also note that trigger gems do not proc from DoT (degeneration) effects. Like fire patches on ground and Shock and Horror boss 'ray of death' spell. Last edited by Redzor#3185 on Dec 31, 2013, 6:30:13 AM

" I dont really have experience in other caster/wander builds but it may work. Try at your own risk :). I'd get rid of 4 life nodes, get ES gear and go CI. However discharge will still not be possibe because Vaal Pact passive is needed to survive elemental reflects. And it will take a lot of regrets to reach it and optmize talent tree overall. But you can try a cold crit build (GMP + freezing pulse + life leech + mana leech + faster casting + cold penetration). Conduit is recommended for party play (to buff party members, no benefits for you). TL/DR: Can not use discharge without a huge respec :/. Hope this helps a bit. |
