All Ears Achievement Dialogue List and Lore (verified)

Thanks for the clarifications. It's a relief environmental lore doesn't contribute, as I'd be less than thrilled at the need to spend a few days running the library again to only maybe possibly get the full 190.

As for the reasonable-ness of the achievement, the bandit book requirement is pushing things, but I suppose it could be forgiven if it's the worst of it, especially depending on when exactly the book needs to be used. If one can just do a run through supporting each bandit and do everything else in the game and end up with 189 and finally come back in late end game to use a book to kill the bandits to get 190, then that's acceptable. If there's a smaller window to use the book (e.g. pre-oversoul) than that's somewhat uncool.

Talking to everyone at every stage of any given quest doesn't seem that unreasonable for some definitions of 'everyone'. It's not terribly difficult to throw down a portal scroll whenever you see a ! indicating quest progress and run around talking to everyone, if 'everyone' is everyone available when the quest first became available, but if it turns out I need to save act 1 side quest stuff all the way until such time as I can talk to siosa in act 3, that'd be super uncool.

I agree that the achievement counter thing should show the particular characters progress rather than account wide progress given that the achievement isn't account wide, or at least until such time as the achievement is actually unlocked. I'm inching through my first character still so thankfully I can still track my characters progress, but I'd definitely hate to be trying to go through it later on after I had multiple characters under my belt.

edit: In other news, I'd appreciate anyone who'd care to offer up 'alternative quest routes' (or theories of they might be) other than the bandit questline.

Basically this.

Yes, in 1.0.6.

So this achievement can actually be completed now? Anyone have a guide?
I also agree that displaying the count for the character you're on would improve quality of life... I have a bunch of characters who just completed Normal difficulty plus a high leveled one, and I'm on 187/190... If I knew I got that on a low level character, I'd at least know that I just need to side with the other 2 bandits in the higher difficulties and then use a reset book.

This achievement is the worst of all achievements!
Its in a league of its own way above all other annoying grinding achievements and can literally not be done.

I am attempting this achievement.

Got 178 from normal run by doing the game in the most linear way possible, just follow the quests as they are given and teleport to town to talk with people each time a "!" appears or zone into unexplored area.

Helped Oak - it appears the only bandit dialogue that counts towards the achievement is the one you can have after killing the Vaal and going back to the camp you helped. + Eramirs dialogue changes depending on the order you kill them.

Now on my second run I helped Alira which resulted in +3 more dialogues. 2 from Eramir and 1 from Alira.

I discovered that in act3 you need to first find tolman in crematorium, go to town, talk to everyone, and then go to clarissa in slums. This resulted in +2 dialogues. So my total is at 183. So technically it was possible to be at 180 in my normal run as the dev stated earlier.

Problem is I just don't see where the extra 7 dialogues would come from. Assuming helping the 3rd bandit gives +3 more, I will be at 186. Using a respec book to kill all bandits should make Eramir give +1. Putting the total at 187.

Pls share your experiences.

I think one of those three is the Scion which you can't help anymore so you need to make a new account and start over :)

No, there isn't one for the Scion unlock.

Here is my take on the 10 optional dialogues that can only be obtained by more than 1 playthrough. There are some repetition to other posts in this thread, but some new info aswell.

Confirmed by more than one player and partly by Rhys:

1 from killing another bandit first (dialogue from Eramir about the first dead bandit), and 2 from helping another bandit in cruel difficulty (one from bandit after killing vaal “the darkness”, and 1 from eramir)
1 from killing another bandit first (dialogue from Eramir about dead bandit), and 2 from helping another bandit in merciless difficulty (one from bandit after killing vaal “the darkness”, and 1 from eramir)
1 from Eramir if you used the respec book and killed all bandits

that makes it 187/190

I am still not sure about the last 3. After reading through the whole thread and trying myself I doubt it is something like presenting questitems to people in other acts. Also presenting the Plum/Decanter to Lady Dialla or presenting the Spool/Sulphite to Faigraves did not yield any results. Also giving the sulphite/spool to lady dialla in a different order or giving the plum/decanter to fairgraves in a different order did do nothing for me (I tried that before patch 1.0.6. - so it may be different now).

That leaves some other alternatives that seem logical to me. I did not try those yet, or nobody else gave 100% confirmation to them yet:

Act 1
Spoiler
none, because I cannot think of any that would make sense (although OP states otherwise “Multiple dialogues appear when you complete certain quests out of (given) order. Also in Act 1.“) anyone has proof of that? Examples?

Maybe the dying exile dialogue in cruel counts at optional? (maybe after the patch 1.0.6.)

Act 2
Spoiler
Eramir has different dialogue for the following (but does it count towards the achievement?):
playthrough 1: get the baleful gem first and talk to him with only the gem in inventory
playthrough 2: get the pike first and talk to him with only the pike in inventory
playthrough 3: get both before talking to eramir

Act 3
Spoiler
Hargan has different dialogue for the following (but does it count towards the achievement?):
playthrough 1: present the busts one by one to Hargan
playthrough 2: give the first 2 busts at once to Hargan, and than the third bust separately
playthrough 3: present all three busts to him at once (not sure about this one)

Lady Dialla
playthrough 1: talk to lady dialla first without anything relevant in inventory, than get the ribbon spool first talk to people in town and than lady dialla, get the sulphite talk to people in town and than lady dialla
playthrough 2: don't talk to lady dialla first, get the sulphite, talk to her with only the sulphite in inventory (confirmed optional be Jadowyn) – that dialogue option one is mean
playthrough 3: get spool + sulphite, talk to people in town and than to lady dialla,
Lady Dialla “the eternal laboratory”, which is only available in merciless difficulty after killing piety (is it optional?)

Fairgraves
playthrough 1: talk to fairgraves without anything relevant in inventory, get only the decanter first and talk to fairgraves, than give him the plum
playthrough 2: get only the plum first and talk to fairgraves, before talking to him for the first time
playthrough 3: get both before talking to fairgraves

I messed up my count when I tried it. Maybe someone else wants to try those above. If I am really bored I will make a new account (currently the only way to reset the count to 0/190) and try again later.
