Regnar's dual wield sword ranger build, now with Blood Magic!

support are by priority rank

dual strike/faster attack/meele physical dmg/fire dmg

cleave/faster attack/concentrated dmg/meele physical dmg/culling strike/fire dmg

whirling blade/flicker strike/faster attack (those 3 linked so faster attack affect both skill)

grace/anger/wrath/reduce mana

blood rage/warlord mark/decoy totem(usefull for boss)

by life leech i guess you are talking about the gem and link it with a skill?if yes early lvl life on hit with cleave will be better,later when your physical dmg will be really hight,life leech) but overall i dont suggest it since you lose a support by doing that and make your attack weaker.with warlord mark+blood drinker passive+leech on gear (ring amulet weapon if you can) you already have enought)

for the weapon if you go with rapier,dragonbone rapier and for sword with accuracy,i find the corsair sword to be the best.is dmg are still pretty good (new dmg less then dragonbone) but it have 1.65 asp and this build need a hight atk speed.


a little tips:make sure you have really hight resist,cap it all the time if you can.even if your item got lower evasion use it.resist is the priority to stay alive since we can tank not bad with all the life leech and using 2 granite flask non stop on strong pack.worlord wark give a 100% flask regen when you kill so granite refill really really fast.try to get +armor or +evasion mod on all your flask (granite and hp) will help a lot.try to get lot of +hp on gear also,we have lot of +hp% nods so with those,the +hp on gear make a hudge difference.dont be afraid to use wirhling blade,like on pack of ranged mobs you cleave few time,when they attack you, evade with wirling blade,cleave again etc.keep you weapon update,this i wath will make you survive,if you kill fast monster hit you less and your leech get better.focus on hight physical dammage weapon.weapon with low physical dmg but hight elemental isnt that good since life leech come from physical dmg only.if your physical dmg is to low your life leech will sux

I rerolled another Ranger and did this build again with what I have learned all the way through Normal difficulty. Here is a couple tips for people as new to this as I was.

That let me get to IR, the Str and Int nodes, and some Life much faster and I didn't notice a damage loss.

I didn't bother meleeing until around level 16 when I had IR and Cleave and some good weapons. Up to that point you can just throw a fire trap down, shoot a poison arrow, and everything dies.

I cleared the very first map as a Marauder to get Cleave.

I leveled a witch to Brutus and got Clarity. Takes around an hour. I had to use an int amulet in order to use Clarity until I hit the Int passive node.

I picked up Frenzy...and proceeded to KICK MYSELF for not taking this earlier. Clarity + Frenzy made things incredibly easy and fast. I had NO issues outside of annoying chaos dmg enemies. Didn't even need to Fire Trap anymore since Frenzy makes you Cleave like crazy.

I have Whirling Blades equipped but I do not level the gem or use it to attack. Its purely for escape.

A Coral Amulet is a huge help early on. I still have the same one equipped that I did at level 14 or so.

I was really lucky near the end of act 3 and found a Grace, although it wasn't needed really. I also traded for a Life On Hit gem that I haven't even used yet since I need the linked sockets for it (its red).

I got a hold of Blood Rage but I don't use it yet since my life regen cannot support it. Once I can I imagine I would use it in place of Frenzy.

So basically use that build up there to start and pick up Clarity and Frenzy. That'll take you through Normal.

Now that I have Grace + Warlord's Mark I feel good about starting the next difficulty.

Sorry for the nooby question, but would this work with axes also ?

yes it can work with axe but,all the passive that increase dmg when you use sword need to be remouve and pick the one for axe instead.

Additionally, swords come with additional accuracy.

i originally went shadow. not to fond of the chick look in this game and i like duel wielding things like claws or daggers. but was just having to many issues for a first time char. im on my 2nd ranger atm working on a build i put together after looking at many others with str and blood magic. after seeing this build i must say i am making my 3rd ranger right now and i am very excited to try this out! prob bounce between this and the 2nd ranger for change of pace bow/melee very nice guide btw

I'm currently trying this build out and the only thing I'm worried about is the life leech.
I need to know all the ways I can get it, support gems, gems, gear; could someone please list the items?

Do you guys farm an area repeatedly to get better item?
Right now I'm towards the end of act1 on normal, still carrying some white items.

Currently just using dual strike to carry me throughout.
Is that normal during beginning? Don't have any support gem at the moment.
