Community Question: Why don't you play public parties?

I joined up with Laura_Palmer a week ago! sorry I died so quickly - first HC death in a while. (that was Zircon)

I have a 56 bow ranger going strong now I'll look ya up.

honestly, much of the time I do prefer to solo so I can go at my own pace - its not as necessary to join multiplayer games in poe as it was in d2. -but when you get a good group going it is a blast.

^ The pace

Whenever Im in a party, one party member seems to do 90% of the job while others barely keep up.
IGN QTCRZ
I think this is the most depressing thread I have seen on these boards.

Each response evinces a little sigh for the general crappiness of humanity.

I understand what GGG is trying to do with things like FFA but feel genuine pity that they will likely never have the playerbase to do it justice.

Possibly because that playerbase has been mostly extinct for a while now.

Question I have is, what killed it?
https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.
I just prefer solo.

ign - spybone add me up!

Time and Us. That player base cannot last forever, and even moreso that it was very small back then. The influence was not very strong, so not many converted to the mindset of the player base of the so called uber hardcore gamers. Most of them are already are either grad students (uni) or gamefreaks.

Generalization or another way of putting it, casuals as taken over this day of age. It is not only in video games, but everywhere else. Everyone wants to try out everything, and with new technology, it is possible to try out many things that were unheard off back then.

Simply put, it cannot be helped.
Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

I do play in public parties on hardcore and 95% of the time the dudes i party with are cool, respectful players....if not i just leave....simple.
Maybe default attracts a less honorable crew..... but i can't say i have had enough bad experiences in HC to put me off public parties.
Bring me my bow of burning gold
Bring me my arrows of desire.....

I play solo to enjoy the adventure atmosphere and rpg feeling rather than rush and grind.
i part up when i can and play off my bud list offten.

the pace of partys is nice when they get rolling with good steam.

Just a sec let me grab a beer...@#*@ Ok how did I die this time

Learn the rules, it's the only way to exploit them.
A few reasons.

1. Biggest reason is other ranged character ruin my computers. All ice spells, most lighting spells (GMP lighting arrow fml) and poison arrow bring my desktop to a grinding halt. My laptop, forget it. Then again, my laptop barely handles my playing solo.

2. I can only talk with my current guy but at high lvl I'm doing parties mostly for the IIQ/IIR bonus. Being 79 I fly through fellshrines and love doing parties for the bonus. The problems I run into is the weak guy trying to keep up with me so I can kill everything for them, then the whole group trying to stay with me to leech items. I purposely leave mobs behind for them to clear and some reason they just skip them to be near me, drives me nuts.

3. I have friends. When I'm actually trying to get exp I'll roll with people I know and have been running with for a while.

4. With questing I usually go too fast for the majority of people and too slow for the good/great racers so I end up in a dark zone of better than most, but not as good as the best. Like fayded and Panda were getting a party together for a 3hr race a couple/few weeks ago and I didn't even want to ask to join because I knew I'd be dead weight even though I started a 3hr race 45 mins late and died at lvl 20 w/ 30 mins to go (pushed too hard trying to catch up pyramid isn't fun at lvl 20 as a duelist).

I avoided HC parties for a long time because of a video from D3 where a guy would gather groups around his insanely tanky toon then tell people to port to him only to die instantly (can't find the video). I was very worried about it but after playing HC everyone is cheering for you to stay alive even if you lead them on the ladder. I was surprised how good the community is in HC, it's mostly really good people.
