Community Question: Why don't you play public parties?

I would like to ask the community why they don't play public parties in POE. There is a very low amount of public games at any one time & I am interested to hear your personal reason for not partying up. I am not interested in turning this into a FFA loot discussion thread so please don't do that but simply state your personal reasons for not partying.

I am not talking about private parties just public/open parties.

Thanks for any replies.
My computer isnt exactly the best to run the game. So I have to play a bit slower and more careful then most or lag will get me. Its not much of a problem if i play builds like summoner where i dont have to move my character around as quick, but then not everyone likes to group with an army of undead.

The other reason is loot. The few times I have public partied, any yellow drops or orbs were picked up immediately after the timer expired whether it was mine or not. Im not always near my loot when it drops since i usually play more ranged builds. Not that i would always take all that drops for me but when you kill something like Vaal and can barely scan all the loot to even see whats yours and start moving to it, it all is gone.

A better computer would help with both issues, but still the loot bothers me. I prefer to finish killing the enemy attacking me, instead of just run to the loot then find a target again. A longer timer might be better, since i dont like instanced loot. Even when a timer expires i still leave anothers loot for them unless they obviously dont want and move off. Too bad others dont do the same.

I play solo because I prefer to. I like to be able to take breaks at any time, I enjoy overcoming challenges by myself (even self-imposed ones), and futzing around with non-standard builds and seeing where they go. Even in MMO's I tend to solo for the same reasons :)
I always play in public party, unless I have other RL friends online. Then we stick with our small group.

The rewards for playing in a party just makes the game a lot more fun. Not to mention I make a lot of new friends. :)

I have a friends list and...occasionally use Global Chat.

Huh. My mace dude is now an actual cultist of Chayula. That's kinda wild.
Use friends list and play solo mostly.
You never know who u can trust.
Its only money. May as well spend it here.

Easy to say.
Because when high currency or one of the (rare usefull) uniques drops i will get mad when the others in party pick them up. So i only run with people i know and where a ruleset before going hunting was made.
What can never be lent or earned?
Somewhat, that devours everyone and everything:
A tree that rush. A bird that sings. It eat bones and smite the hardest stones.
Masticate every sword. Shatters every shrine. It defeat mighty kings and carry mountains on lightly wings.
What am i?
I play mainly SP as that way there's no one there to laugh when my character dies an embarrassing death.

Seriously, I just prefer SP, as that was all there was when I started playing games and I've stuck with it (even with games like D3, which were designed for multiplayer).
I recently started to use the name "funbuilds" for my public parties.
They seem to be well visited from the get go from interesting persons.
Thats maybe because every1 thinks he is making something extraordinary with his passives.

Full Groups dont show anymore and thats good this way.

1) I prefer to play at my own pace. ie; take smoke breaks when I feel like it, town runs, etc, etc.

2) It's much faster and convenient to use Ventrilo or some other form of voice chat than it is to have to stop mid-game and type something to someone who probably doesn't speak english as their native language, which makes communication difficult enough without having to retype what I said 3 different ways in order for them to finally understand me. This is why I generally only play with friends and we all use the same Ventrilo server.

Perhaps in-game party voice chat should be implemented into POE. Then I would be more likely to play in public parties.
Never wrestle with a pig. You'll only get muddy, and the pig likes it!

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience!
