Chris: ALT-F4 LEGIT STRAT
" Again, this is just your opinion of how it should be. You are welcome to play this way if you like. Having more options available is a good thing, even if you choose to not use all the options. In my opinion, the alternative is less fun. If there is no option to log out, hardcore players are forced to build even more defensive characters, and overlevel the content even more than they do currently. I fail to see how this would be better. Last edited by carkasjak#7673 on Oct 26, 2013, 7:36:35 AM

Its not merely an option. The game should be possible to play for people that dont Alt F4, except that when it is balanced around being allowed to Alt F4 it isnt.
People wouldnt defend RMT as merely being an option, I dont get why they need to defend Alt F4, well actually I do, because they want to use every possible exploit that they can to make the game easier. " WRONG. If Alt F4 wasnt an option, then the developers would have to improve the balance on the mobs to compensate. They dont want to do that, hemce the game it literally impossible to beat without dying unless you Alt F4. (b) Personal abuse, foul language, inappropriate subject matter, obscene, harassing, threatening, hateful, or discriminatory or defamatory remarks of any nature ... are not permitted. - PoE TOS. " The game is literally possible, albeit very difficult to beat without logging out. You can grind to overlevel the content, trade for good gear to always cap your resists and have high life/ES and armor/eva. Personally I find parties and trading too easy, but you don't see me whining for a solo self-found league, because I can play the way I like in the normal leagues without worrying about what everyone else does. |

Why do I have the feeling that most of the people who complain don't even play HC ?
As a HC veteran it seems the most common sense feature to have available. I don't care what fantasies of how HC should be you have in your head. The truth is random situations where you get blocked or cornered by some insane mod rares/bosses happen and being able to instantly quit those RANDOM sure death situations is a no brainer. |

" Yeah people who QQ about it are softcorers who have inferiority issues because hardcorers are called 'hard' and they are called 'soft'. They don't know shit about playing in HC else they would understand that removing esc->logout would make the game frustrating and boring. Of course they would never play it :D GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Just add an experience penalty to using ALT-F4 during a fight and/or "escape" counter to profile page. I think that, with such deterrents, abusers would have reason enough to stop using escape tactics over and over.

Logged out in time today: Looked at about a quarter life and logged back in to standard league so....

I use logout to escape desynch, for near death situations i just portal out, or flask-spam and run out, etc... Iwe logged out once since release, because brutus desynched all over the place and i couldnt even click my portal to go to town.

I have never used alt+F4 in a game, because I think if it's part of the way the game should be played the developers would have included it in the game itself. However, why not just add a button that immediately teleports a character safely to town then? If the game is balanced around the meta-action of alt+F4, why not fully support it? I'm sure alt+F4'ers would love to not have to reload the game every time they have to abandon ship.

I want to play hardcore like it's actually hardcore, I don't think logging out whenever I'm about to die is very "hardcore". GGG constantly adds mechanics that force log out or you'll instantly die. This is one of the reasons why I just quit PoE again.
Now that the devs have said themselves that they're balancing the game based on people who abuse log out/alt f4 I'll probably never be coming back to hardcore leagues again. Last edited by Nycro#4007 on Oct 26, 2013, 10:50:57 AM
