What makes a bow good?

Expect to pay 100+ exalts to craft a top tier bow. You will go through dozens of eternals.

It outperforms a Lioneye depsite being of similar DPS. I do more damage and maintain power charges easier (yes, I have compared)

Currently experimenting with split arrow. It's working pretty fucking well. I don't even need blood magic, and can run my 6L attack entirely off my mana pool without mana leech gem.

Likely because a lionseye will usually be almost as good for 1/6th the price.

I recall a perfect tri ele ias (4 perfect mods - 360 dps) bow called dread barrage going for 150+ exalts or so but the seller decided to hold it to it far past the point of expiration. this was about the time people realized lions+blackgleams+hatred was superior to such a bow.



330 dps of pure ele + 25% more from hatred and 100% hit

vs

360 dps about 320 of it pure ele + no benefit from hatred, not 100% hit

it was a really sickeningly easy choice once you ran a few numbers.

so yeah, if it's missing that, it's good fucking game.

thats why theres like a giant essay a page back basically explaining that with good crit, rares beat lioneye. it's just the way it works.

if i equip lioneye and activate hatred, i have less dps than with my current bow. those crits ;)

Notice it has zero crit chance on it. That's why this thing could never compete. Without that specific mod, it's automatically impossible to compete with a Lioneye.

A rare HAS TO HAVE crit chance, and a good amount of it, to compete.

Thats a very steep requirement on top of 3 good prefix dps mods and ias.

now we have to ask how much does that 5 mod bow outperform lions by?
Also keep in mind not every bow user builds around crit which is what the comparison is based on.

I got this old school bow. The crit it not relevant for me since I am not a crit build but a pure elemental build. So so far this is the best I can get in game to maximize my dps. Ir I remember correctly I think I get extra 400 or so dps on LA compare to a 315dps lioneye.

Kinda wish someone out there are willing to dash out couple hundred ex for a 400+ dps bow. I am sure plenty of people will be waiting in line for mirroring a top crafted bow.

Like you guys said, Lioneye kinda destroyed the crafting bow market because its really hard to beat a lioneye with a crafted bow..

oh my god, those are some amazing stats but the wrong tiers. thats like 390 dps had you rolled the 150% phys dmg.

yea the bow probably has the best combo of stats ever for a bow. Its just some of the rolls are mediocre. Still get close to 400dps, but someone can definitely craft something better than this. I think a thicket can maxed out at around 450?

I have this bow on my ranger. Not the best suffix or even perfect ele rolls, but it is still a good crafting weapon imo.

I paid 1 ex for it btw.

ignore sockets and shit. I was trying to 6s it and I got 6s then accidentally went over it and that just killed the mood and haven't tried again since.

440 sounds about right, on top of 38 crit chance and 38 multiplier. sadly such a weapon might never exist but if it did im sure itd go for well over 400 exalts.
