Our view on map drop rates
Both better gear, and for PvP reasons. I'm next to 3 10% crit dmg nodes, 2 nodes of 15% crit chance, and 1 40% crit chance node. Further, and I know I won't make it, but I'm next to about a total of 50% increase spell dmg.
This isn't just about that though. The point is maps are more expensive compared to prepatch, which means less are dropping for everyone. Also, I have no problem playing 64-65 lvl maps, as that where the previous plateau was. In terms of OB, what is happening now will be precisely what happens again if things don't change. I can roll thru any level map. The perceived difficulty, which is a problem, is not what bothers me. For example, today, for the first time ever, I experienced a client crash which resulted in death. Now, before the patch I could've made that extra xp back in less than a day. Now, there went my whole weekend of xp, probably more, since I'm forced to play low levels for basically nothing. I can run 10+ maps and maybe get 1%. In other terms, that's maybe 125 maps I just lost, or 125 alchs. |

I'm also abandoning my lvl78 duelist until the map system gets some much needed changes. But I am not leaving the game by any means, cos it is a damn awesome game.
Currently leveling a brand new bow shadow. By my estimation for the time it would have taken me to get my duelist to 79 I would get my new shadow to the early 70s. Going to be a much more fun experience than grinding those lvl60 maps forever and ever and ever. |

" Same here,im done with my level 73 marauder because of the same problem and im also done with the game until it reaches OB. High level map drops are extremely rare,in all my playtime (aprox 6 days of total playtime only with this character) i never had a level 65 or a level 65+ map drop.NEVER.And I've done over 100 maps either solo or in parties (never played a white map btw). Had to buy high level maps and get extremely mad with the current drop rate that doesn't reward you at all most of the time for doing difficult maps.Sure you might get lucky with a unique item once in a while (depends on the unique though) but with a good/viable rare equipment item never. I honestly dont remember the last time i had a good rare drop, had to buy all my equipment or use the gambling based crafting system to get something decent throughout my entire playtime with all my characters. Dont expect to get good stuff every time i play, but damn this sure has a gotten to a point where you cant be bothered to even remotely try since you know that a reward for all your effort will most likely not come. It was a great time playing this game ,but it gets stale sooner or later.Once you finish Merci you are very likely to get bored with it. Im also feeling quite sorry for people who are also in the same situation but make the decision of starting over with a new character and leave their high level character to be forgotten because of the reasons that have been stated in this thread. atm this is whasup:
grinding fellshire/whatever 5x area, finally find a map. wasting 1 transmut on it, if impossible stats -> 1 alt -> run map, wasting orbs on maps is not worth it. imo. ilukcy-> do one or 2 more maps. normal-> do the map (5 min btw, not 20-30) then start over. not so much fun :-( buying ingame maps for alchs suxs btw. alchs are useful orbs not meant as a currency like gold. would be sucking to use main of these as gold-replacement. Its the same people upset about the map drop rates that are the ones that are over leveled for maps.
If you are level 75+ just stop talking about the drop rates of maps for your level to have fun. The game isn't caught up to your level. If you are under 70, map drop rate is pretty darn good using the right mods. However, I believe its not controllable enough with risk vs reward. Many times you can run +100IIQ maps and get 0 maps. Running a map that hard should have a much better chance to drop a map than what it does. |
|
" Your problem is you are upset that you cant get maps and have to farm fellshrine, yet you only want to spend 1 transmute on the map when you do find one. Try dropping some currency on it, to get good mods and you are likely not to have to farm fellshrine. |

" in your two posts you always talk about "the right mods" can you enlighten the rest of use which are the right mods?coz you obviously know some magic formula that can beat rng some of my IGNs:

" currency is worthful. i can sell 50 alts and get a gcp. if i waste them on maps i dont get shit. to be more specific, if base chance to get a map from a white map is 50%, and i need 10 alts to get a 40% map, chances to get another map are 50%*1,4 = 70% from a 40% map. result: i run out of maps nonetheless. in this case i would get 40% more maps
Spoiler
so after 100 runs i get 70 maps instead of 50.
thats 20 more, but i paid 100*10 alts = 1000 alts for this additional 20 maps. Which means 50 falt / map. nope. Last edited by Laee#6369 on Sep 30, 2012, 7:55:28 AM

" MrDDT: The map drop rate is exactly the same whether you're lvl63 or lvl 85. So I'm not sure quite what you're getting at. My point, is that this exact same thing will happen in OB even once the additional acts and leveling (area & maps) #s are readjusted. There will reach a point where the same thing will occur. And again, if map prices have tripled, which they have, than that means that there are FAR LESS high lvl maps dropping. To the person who complained about spending an alch on a map. You have the right to your opinion, but I can tell you this. Before the map patch, chisels cost 2x per GCP. On lvl65-66+ maps, many high lvl map players were READILY buying 4 chisels (So 2 GCP) to make said maps 20% quality than using chaos/alch+scour in order to get the correct mods. We did this, because it actually improved our odds at maintaining high lvl maps. Which, as expensive as it was, it worked. It was nice to be able to "control" the RNG in at least 1 portion of this game. It may have cost us every cent we had, but it was worth it. Now, it's not. As DDT said, the difference between a high IIQ map and a medium one is not that great. Further, to the devs, Chisels should be a bonus, icing on the cake for maps, not required. Your statement that people are not using enough chisels on maps suggest to me that they are required. If you want the game to be hard, than using chisels, which is not hard, should not be required to get more maps. Using a chisel is easy. Playing a map with temp chains + monster increased movement, attack, cast speed + -20 resists + monsters deal 100% more lightning damage is not. The players that play those maps should be rewarded for the risk they took. Currently, this is not the case (usually). |
