Crafting? Don't be silly, just buy the item.
Level 77 Templar, anarchy.
After spending 600+ jewellers to 6S a 760 ES vaal regilia, And getting only 5S, And after spending 500 fusings to 5L a silly vaal regilia, Im left with a 2L vaal regilia. Spent about 6-7 ex. I could have just bought 6S5L 750+ vaal with dual resist. Why must I be punished to craft items myself? Why must I be forced to trade with others? Sure one can say 'noone is forcing you', or that 'the nature of crafting requires randomness. RNG was not with your side'. 'You should not have invested all of your currency in one armor' This is not crafting. This is just gamble. My armor is completely useless as 2L, and I literally cannot progress in-game anymore. Unless I trade some odd maps for alchemies, and trade them for chaos, and buy another 4/5L armor that has decent ES and allows me to run the auras that I run. One main reason I quit Diablo 3 over PoE was the dependency of AH in order to get better gear. I was disillusioned that this was not the case in PoE. I 100% agree that player interaction should be encouraged, whether it's partying or bartering. I absolutely despise the fact, however, that players are discouraged from and punished for trying to craft their own items. There is literally no reason to craft your own items. Zero. Almost in any case (unless you have a perfectly rolled 4 or 5 stats on an item) you are better off buying it from someone else. This is not economy, this is not crafting. It's a poor excuse for a system that uses random numbers on each and every try you do that does not regard the previous attempts. I'm not saying that everyone should be rewarded 5 or 6 links after 50+ tries. I'm not saying that anyone has the right or claim to any of these items. They should be hard to get. However I should not feel like a total idiot for trying my own luck, instead of doing what the rest of the playerbase is doing: trading. So after a brief moment of rage, I vendored all of my items (About 20 ex worth), and deleted my characters. If you haven't realized it already, yes: I am mad. So, GGG. Your move. Please don't tell me that I should use armor scraps before socketing/fusing. I have. ------- Edit: After reading the responses, I added a response that I feel should be included in this message. So here it is. ------- The whole idea is great on paper; using orbs that re-roll affixes, add them, re-roll the values, re-rolling socket numbers, links, colors, base values etc. I enjoy(ed) rolling maps, for instance, using different approaches as to what to do with them. I may have wasted currency in the meanwhile (I'm 99% sure that I've spent WAY too many chaos orbs than the actual value I get within the maps), but it felt satisfying. If I didn't get the rolls that I wanted, and I was out of currencies, I would still try to run the map and adjust my strategy, skills or even gear. The flaw with crafting your item is, If you have a good item that you are using that you wish to improve, the system can punish you for it. I had a vaal regalia with 760 ES, 40 int, 44 lightning res. 4L 5S. It still had 2 exalt slots free. However after burning 6~EX worth currency on it, I ended up with a piece of item that was 1) worse then the version that I have 2) did not allow me to progress anymore since my build didn't work. Surely, after 600+ jewellers and 500+ fusings, I would get a 5L - I thought. The 4L5S was not worth the eternal obviously. If I had a 5L6S and attempted a 6L (god forbid), I may have used an eternal. So you see, If I wanted to craft myself a 5L armor from scratch like suggested in the thread, I would have to make a new vaal with 760 ES, int, and a high res roll, or something that comes really close to it. And that is hard. That may require TONS of currency. And If I don't get a similar armor to work on, why would I start investing jewellers / fusings on a piece that is inferior to mine stat-wise? RNG is RNG. Could've gotten 6S6L in 1 Jew and 1 Fuse.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Bye.
not enough time for gaming!

" The OP was overreacting a little bit, but you can't just blame this on RNG. The system is flawed. Yes everything is based of "luck" and "rng" but it shouldn't be that way. There should be a way to guarantee a 5-L/6-L/6-S |
|
i used over 300 chaos orbs on a 2 handed mace, not once did i get over 150% ED, wont be crafting ever again, best to just buy the items
|

" I don't agree. Also there already is a guaranteed way to get all of this, just buy it. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

" I'm glad you understood the core issue here. /sarcasm |
|
" Lol, why is it an issue? You make the decision, either you gamble your currency to craft stuff or you use it to buy it. GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Why would you choose to try and craft a chest that you apparently needed to wear at that moment?
I've gone through 1200 fusings on my lioneye's and ended up with a 5link, no 6link. Wanna know how many it took to 6link my chest? 14. Its RNG, and has never been advertised otherwise. Dont craft a piece of gear that you need to wear at that very moment man. |

That is why I'll make sure to have back up armors before I try my fusing.
Anyway RNG is RNG however I think developers can do more... Make it pure random for the first 200 fusing and if more than 200 fusing spent, increase the odds, if another 100 fusing (total of 300 fusing) and still not at least 5L, increase the odds again and increase it so on... |
