Socket update

Doesnt take away from the fact that the sockets look terrible.
socket and link feedbacks from 2012 november. Yet how terrible sockets were they back then and still not changed, as a result: ignored.
If threads like this take most of negative feedbacks then devs should not ignore, same goes with how busy and disturbing current gems are.

It is bad not to accept how unfunctional some designs can be; so are they.

Erik that was good idea! Nice work, and look forward to see what final version will be.
Poe veteran! Have been here sense November 2010.
I think this change is amazing as a person who is color blind, i must say this helps alot. I also have issues with me mouse cursor sometimes it blends into with the back ground of certain maps that are yellow or brown, i was wondering if GGG would add some kind of fix that would allow us to maybe change the color of our mouse cursor, it would be amazing if that could happen. thanks!

Here's a WIP on a socket update. The goal with the change is to make the sockets less intrusive so that you can see the item art behind them more. At the same time they should be easy to separate for colour blind people and in general easy to use. I'll update this thread with some more variations as I do changes. I'll have a another look at the link connection next for example.

lol this look awesome
I think the design of the sockets should differ based on the colour of the socket so that colour blind people aren't all seeing identical objects that may or may not be the same colour as each other.

Also I find it hard to see the links between sockets in the loot labels when mousing over loot on the ground. It's just 4 jam packed dots with a single pixel to define the linking? Seriously?
