Socket update

If you intend to keep the new design, please make a toggle for "simplified" color-saturation. The new look is less fantasy, more bejeweled. I prefer the old tints, socket sizes, and general looks of all of this together, but I admit that now that I am able to see the artwork on the items better, they do look quite nice.

But, much like the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, the "higher contrast/saturation" should be a visual option for those with vision problems in order to retain the style and feel of the game.

Furthermore, there needs to be a toggle under options for "sockets always visible in inventory and stash", not just holding down alt. Some of us store our gems inside like items to conserve space, and it's a pain to constantly have to hold alt down.

Just noticed that blue sockets on the ground have become quite hard to distinguish, especially when linked:

Can we have some kind of option to have "normal" (the old sockets) and "colour blind" (the new horrible bright cartoony looking sockets, seriously it looks terrible) because I actually can't deal with the new sockets it's putting me off completely.

Actually after just logging back in I'm going to say that the sockets are so bright that it takes away from everything else on screen, I can also hardly see the socket links (or anything for that matter) because I'm pretty much blinded by the brightness of the colours.

Pretty please make the old socket type standard as it looked awesome and fitted with the game and make the "new" sockets a colour blind option. It is seriously making the game look cheap and will turn new players off as one of the first impressions they get.

I will say that I like the idea of the squares showing the sockets of items on the ground.

I hope the devs will read in this thread again... I fully agree with this post above...

These new sockets are putting me off totally... they still look like they were made in paint and they are too colorful and not even fantasy RPG-ish :/
The Art Style below looks nice.

I liked the old one also.

But i really hate the new simple/flat one.

It looks like it is hiding the item even more now and it is a step back for art style and doesn't give you the feeling of magic sockets and magic links anymore.

I don't like the new item windows also. :(

PLZ at least give us the ability to chose the one we like from the options!

This ^

The new colors are more difficult to distinguish for none colorblind people, they are far to bright imo.
I've got to say that after playing some with newest patch I find it easy to see all sockets and links on items on the ground, far better than earlier. I'm not colorblind though :P
I also have trouble with the new socket colors while the item is on the ground.

Why not simply add a check box for colorblind people?

It's probably a whole lot of work, but both socket size and the intensity of socket colors could be slider options. I myself would love to see very large and bright sockets both on the ground and on the items. Mostly on the ground since even before the patch it was very very hard to see those.
How does this work for you? These all passes the test of a partially colour blind person in the office. Are they all still easy to distinguish?
