whats the fuss about the sword other than leveling in the 40s or w/e?

Actually looking at the IB talk got me thinking.

Assuming the Corpse Exploding still does damage, the 30% ignite chance, plus maybe Cloak of Flames for another 10% ignite chance and the extra ignite duration, would be sufficient for igniting shit. Throw in Melee Splash, Culling Strike and Elemental Proliferation and you can mop up any group quickly, especially with the increased burn rate. While it's not going to let you clear shit solo, all a support build needs damage-wise is the ability to cull stuff, and being able to mop up a group like that is a step above the norm.

And the 'can't deal damage with anything else' mod doesn't matter if all you're doing is cursing and culling.

And, again, if all you're doing is cursing and culling, you don't need anything more than a 4L for your other skills, so you could 5L/6L this with Inc. Burn Damage or Multistrike if you felt the need.

game needs more melee uniques for end game.....in terms of been a hc player tht is....since u have to play safe and been range is the safest...i sell so many leveling melee weps but never sell end game melee weps...even the unique maul ect struggle to sell

So technically traps should still work, consindering how GGG never get's tired to state that "Traps and mines cast spells themselves, not the player". Therefore their damage is not YOUR damage.

Really intrigued how GGG will handle this.

Because Elemental Proliferation works in pulses. If something burns quicker, it has less time to 'pulse' and spread.


The first pulse is the most important one anyway, since the radius is pretty big to begin with. The second pulse will spread it to whatever is left, but the 3rd and 4th pulses don't seem to add much if you manage to ignite again during those 2 seconds.

I have to admit my experience with elemental proliferation is limited though, so i could be very wrong.

Think about what the first sword was and what the second one is. Maybe Charan's penchant for thematic designs will give you an idea ;)
