Shock NEEDS to be changed

TLDR: WE NEED TIME TO REACT TO SHOCK!

Based on feedback from this forum, it seems like the most agreed upon solution is to change shock stacks from 3 stacks of 40% to 6 stacks of 20%.

This is the optimal solution for several reasons:
-It's simple. Does not require GGG to change much.
-a 6-stack shock stack cannot buildup from one single multi-proj lightning attack
-its a slower buildup, requiring the enemy to crit multiple times instead of just one initial crit

Others have suggested a change to the way crits work with multiple projectile spells, having individual crit chance per projectile rather than giving the crit to all 3(LMP) projectiles of the same spell. This obviously has more to do with crit mechanics than shock mechanics.

[rant]I just killed sawbones in the multiple proj famine race. There were 3 lightning skeletal mages left in the room. 3 of their projectiles, no more no less, hit me all at once. We are talking less than 1/10th of a second. I instantly died from full life(132hp+14es). The 3 projectiles all shocked me...

Usually when you get a shock stack on you, you can back out of the fight until it wears off. In this scenario, there was no possible chance of backing off. In fact there was only about 10 milliseconds for me to react. It was pretty much impossible to even notice the shock stacks before the resurrect button appeared.

This has happened to me on multiple occasions, killing many of my HC characters, not just the above mentioned. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. The fact is 40% extra damage is WAY too much extra damage, and shock stacks can be applied WAY to quickly and simultaneously for even the tankiest of heroes to respond with anything other than "F&CK, I'M DEAD!"

In conclusion I propose one of 4 solutions:
-Lower shock bonus damage to 20-30%
-Scale it from high to low so first shock stack is 40%, second is 30%, and 3rd is 20%
-Or from low to high so first shock stack is 20%, second is 30%, and third is 40%
-Add a short timer after each shock stack in which you cannot be shocked, so we have time to react.

irl lightning doesn't strike the same spot twice or more AT THE SAME TIME!

It is overpowered - in the hands of players vs monsters.
I think instead of 3 stacks of 40% we should allow 5 stacks of 25%. Currently, the problem with both player and monster shock damage is quickly going from zero stacks to 2 or 3 in no time at all, causing massive damage; this change would make the progress more gradual, leading to more of an emphasis on building shock stacks on things that are already shocked rather than this one-shot multi-hits-at-once nonsense.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.
Yes! I also fully agree that shock is OP in the hands of players too! My incinerate+shock build is pretty ridiculous in that I instantly 3x shock stack any enemy hit by incinerate even before it ramps up to stage 2.

Nerfhammer please!

It's not overpowered, you have to learn to kite while shock is on. You can't face roll in this game, this has been said time after time. Chris has mentioned it...

Some people never learn, don't just run into attacks, avoid them.
i honestly think that its stupid that you can get triple shock stacked from one crit. it needs to be applied once per crit instead of per hit when critting. if shrine piety crits you with a lightning ball, its pretty much GG no matter what your build and gear is because of the instant triple shock stack from the mutli hitting ball if it crits.
studying for GGG's C++ technical exam...

i think getting freezed is worse honestly ... even tho there are more items to counter that

I like this idea.

Even 4 stacks of 30% is better than 3 stacks of 40%.
But I think 6 stacks of 20% is more adequate.

We must realize it's not just the damage we are improving, but also the chances of applying ANYTHING, from stuns to freeze AND to additional shocks as well.

Furthermore, this is particularly insane against armor.
Since armor reduces less damage the bigger the hits are, a hit modified by shock will not only be stronger, but also LESS reduced - wich makes it EVEN stronger.

This is explained in more detail in here:
