I did some quick testing yesterday evening, in A3 merciless.

I used to run discipline, purity and wrath (for zombies extra damage) before patch. Now, I have to cast one aura, summon my minions then cast my 2nd defensive aura.

I honestly don't feel that an offensive aura is needed anymore. My zombies ate Gravicius alive then raped everything in the gardens. I spent a few minutes in the Scepter of Gods and didn't have trouble either. I guess Dominus might be a bit more complicated, we'll see tonight or tomorrow.

On a sidenote, I didn't bother to reset my tree yesterday, so it wasn't even optimized (although, as Rathik, I don't see much of a difference between the "old" and "new" summoner one).

Im lev 75 with rather crappy gear (only 5L gear, 4k ES with descipline, max resists).
I have 17Lev (non-q) Reduced Mana and took all reduction nodes around. Im able to run only two auras.
In my opinion changes just killed this build (maybe not if you have better gear than me ). Progressing on new areas are veeery slow and my zombies (20q17l) were dying like cannon fodder.

I wish i was more patient and wait for some feedback. Now i ended up with useless build :(
so sad with new patch, my zombie is too weak in new map.... Sometime they cant touch mobs, they can only deal dmg when...died !

If you feel your zombies are too weak, give Mon'tregul's Grasp a try.

I bought a cheap one a few weeks ago, just to see for myself how 4 zombies with a bigger healthpool, more resists and hitting harder would do. Well, it convinced me!

When my zombie gem is 20/20, I might switch back to 8 regular zombies, but for now, the 4 big meanies make a hell of a difference (if their heath is sustained by animation flasks of course).

No, you are not. Its basically a boost for your zombies because it scales well with multistrike. The cast speed is not really needed.

You can live with out it. Trust me :)

You can run 3 auras and still have 200 mana available which are still enough for a summoners build if you invest more in some mana nodes.

With the life boost this build is also viable with life and and EB. I ll make a skill tree soon.

I find that very hard to believe. The patch didn't nerf zombies one bit. The only thing the build lost is 1 aura, nothing else. Everything else is a buff.

If your zombies are weak it means you don't have a level 20 zombie gem yet.

A level 19 zombie gem vs a level 20 its worlds apart.

You are right, 2 auras is enough. Discipline + purity/haste/hatred. Or you can run 3 if you invest in some more mana nodes.


3 auras are not needed in anyway.

Drop vitality, its worthless.

If your zombie gem is not level 20 dont expect much. Its world apart from a level 19 zombie gem.
And a 20/20 is even stronger.

Run discipline and purity. You will see a ton of difference.

You didnt even take the minion cluster in witch starting area.
