Up front, i'm not saying evasion is bad!

As soon, as i've seen all this bow users posting: "evasion is ok" ... play an evasion based melee with same eq and than tell what u think.

Melee everything sucks compared to ranged, this is its own discussion entirely.

What it all comes down to is that you need a big enough life pool to survive any one hit in the game, not including things like maze vaal or carnage, and you need enough life leech/LoH/regen/whatever to fully recover between hits.

This is exactly what I do on my ranger. It looks a lot more dangerous than it actually is because I'll take a big hit every few seconds and my life pool gets cut in half, but because of the entropy system I have plenty of time to recover that life before I have to worry about the next incoming hit. Everything happens in a pretty rhythmic pattern.

I think this is what scares people away from evasion, it's scary to lose big nuggets of life every time you get hi. But over time it really doesn't matter as long as you can survive that vast majority of things in the game with your life pool.

Using maze vaal or carnage as examples is such a strawman. Nobody should be getting hit by them, they're telegraphed attacks for a reason.

Carnage is telegraphed? The only thing that's telegraphed in that fight is his presence, so that players could skip him. :)

Maze Vaal's smash can very well hit you if the map has a speed/frenzy mod or double boss, or if you're cursed with Temp Chains, or if it just desyncs, or any combination of the above. If you attempt to fight him melee, yes, eventually you will eat a smash.
<Tyrfalger> Exactly, the next act is going outside Sarn and into those wheat fields (see the map) to become a farmer. Then we can spend our days endlessly farming. Wait a minute...
