" The distinction lies between "Ignite" and "Burn Damage" :P Both Fire Trap and Ignite deal Burning Damage (Fire Damage over Time), but only Ignite is, well... Ignite. The ring counts Ignite, not Burn. |

BLARGH. My internet went down as I was writing this post, then I went to sleep and everyone answered the question in my place. However, I think the wiki link is still relevant, so here goes my original post from like 8 hours ago or something:
" Yes! Well, more or less, anyways. Check out this page for a very quick summary of burn mechanics: http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Burning Long story short, Ignite is a status effect that causes Burning damage. Fire trap's ground fire causes Burning damage, but does not inflict any Ignites. All Ignites deal Burning damage, but not all Burning damage is from Ignites. Need game info? "Of course a quick perusal of skillgems has led me to believe "burn" no longer exists as a damage type. Fire Trap deals fire damage per second now in the tooltip unless I misread it. IGN - PlutoChthon, Talvathir

" though increased burning damage works on Fire Trap and Searing Bond... i do agree, however, that the wording is still pretty confusing in any case, it's clear that the taming only works on ignite Last edited by dlrr#2847 on Oct 29, 2013, 11:25:33 PM

Any and all fire damage over time is Burning damage. Only the Ignite status effect is an Ignite.

I'm still a bit confused about damage vs low life enemies.
Can I assume the newest version of the blooddance with 6% is better than the 'current' old version with 3%. "3% increased damage against Enemies on Low Life per Frenzy Charge" And both versions are still weaker than the retroactively nerfed version which use to say "Enemies on Low Life take 3% increased Damage per Frenzy Charge" So prior, if I did 500 damage vs a low life with these boots + 3 frenzy charges what would my damage be? Same question now with the current version, assume both are 3% damage and 3 frenzy charges. IGN: Arlianth Check out my LA build: 1782214 Last edited by Nephalim#2731 on Oct 30, 2013, 8:19:34 PM

With the old version, it's really simple. If the monster normally takes exactly 500 Damage, it now takes +9% Damage. 500 * 1.09 = 545 Damage.
The Damage Taken modifier was more likely than not additive with Shock. The new version features Increased Damage, which stacks with other sources of Increased Damage. If you already have 100% Increased Damage (and thus 250 base damage), the 9% extra will get you the following: 250 * 2.09 = 522.5 Damage As with all Increased Damage, Shock is effectively multiplicative. Also, weaker now, yay. So that's why it now has a bigger number. Last edited by Vipermagi#0984 on Oct 30, 2013, 9:59:52 PM

I heard Alpha's Cowl is bugged and currently doesn't provide it's aura cost reduction, any truth to this?
