Tyr's **0.11.1** Pure Elemental Bow Spec

Two quick questions:
1. If I have a Harp and use chained ice shot, is there any reason to pick up arcing blows?
2. With Harp and Chain Ice, is there any reason to use LA for anything?

Yes you get arcing blows still because it boosts the +lightning damage from Wrath aura and your gear. Lightning damage is still a very big portion of your damage even when using ice shot.

I use LA to replace ice shot on cold resist packs or as my single target to replace burning arrow on fire resist.

Im very excited to hear that pplz are starting to see results! The key at this point is to push your dps as much as possible until you hit a wall with survivability &/or mana.

I max out dps with my available gear to unsafe levels. Then add in MF gear as you craft it. You want resists & dps & mf... this is expensive & will not happen soon. Try to find the highest itemlevel rings/ammys. Crafting is another concept & another thread. I'm considering making a website dedicated to my MF strategy overall cause my overall approach to PoE has a scope much wider than this thread.

The dps will continue to spike as you level to the point where you will know when its overkill and can swap out mf gear.

I'm actually quite satisfied with damage at the moment though i know i will get even higher (dont have catalyse passive yet). However i've hit a wall with survivability already :( I'm pretty much confined to merciless ledge farming @ 59 at the moment. Taking a break and levelling a templar at the moment.
I also just comfirmed that Poison Arrow DoT DOES INDEED proc the Soul Siphon... Unless this is a bug, Poison Arrow's DoT does infact give back mana.

Just a quick question.

I have a chain, but have yet to use it, I cannot fit it into my gear in a way to be able to support it, even with a leveled up mana leech I do not regen quick enough with my shortened mana pool to support either LA or IS with it. I also cannot afford to use discipline or clarity with Anger + Hatred + Wrath.

Not sure outside of getting +Mana on gear of a way to rectify this, not many nodes within reach.

I wouldn't bother using Anger. You'd need to level it up pretty high to get a lot of DPS from it, that also increases the reserved mana. I just got up to 30+ mana regen and with lvl 16 Wrath/Hatred, it's already pretty tough to maintain constant spamming.
Also, looking at Tyr's passives, he doesn't pick up any specific fire damage nodes. No one's saying you can't try it out, you should get enough respecs/regrets to refund those nodes if it doesn't work out but since we're picking up ice/lightning nodes, those will naturally scale higher.

As others have said below you, Hatred is by far the worse of the three damage auras.

I'm gonna drop Hatred and try out Clarity.
Big thanks to Casval and teo for answering questions that already have already been discussed!

1. I never said I do 1800 on burning arrow. That was some other guy & I'm assuming he meant 900x2 from both arrows combined.

2. I use Anger and Wrath. I left Hatred off until I could afford the mana cost. When you start actually farming higher level content this next tier of loot has amazing stats which will open up many more options.

3. My DH is in fact 5l. I got really reallly realllllly lucky yesterday & rolled a 6s in about 15 jewelers and a 5l in 5 fusings. No shit. This is the third DH I have made into a 5l and probably the tenth 5l ive made over the past year. Prepare to burn through dozens of fusings. My DH is ilvl 56 fyi

Im jelly beyond belief, I can't even find someone to sell one.
I have been following Tyr's build religiously and if you stick to his tree and pick up the key items he notes, you will be successfull. These are some points of note that I have come across while leveling. I am now at 58.

1. This build is very gear dependent and you will have times where you feel as if you are unable to progress on your own. DONT GIVE UP!!! This can be corrected by farming what you have access to. Fellshrine in act 2 and the docKs in act 3 are fairly safe areas for you to farm.

2. Run the added elemental damage auras and connect a mana leech to your aoe combo. Your aoe combo may be Ice Shot or Lightning Arrow depending on the gear you have available to you. I picked up a 11% ice shot early and it has always outdamaged my LA. If you cant run all 3, play with them until you find what works for you.

3. Death's Harp is worth the investment. You will find other bows with higher AS and elemental damage. The "dps" figure that you see when you hover over your skill will be higher with these bows. Remember that the additional arrow from Deaths harp is why it is recommended and its added dps is not accounted for in that figure over the skill. It is almost like having LMP for no cost. When you link WED-Chain-Iceshot you will decimate packs.

4. Use support spells like summon skeletons, ranged attack totem, and temporal chains. They make your life easier and you likely have slots available for them.

5. If you do not have access to a Weapon Elemental Damage support gem, roll a templar and have a friend rush you through act 1. Select it as a reward and stick it in your stash.

6. If you have a friend that you want to play with, I have been duoing with a witch who uses the vulnerable to ice damage curse. Between the curse, her damage, and my aoe, we destroy packs of monsters.

Hope this info helps some of the lower people following along. Stick with it, and farm up for the gear you need. Key milestones for this build are - Deaths Harp, Chain, 3 Auras, Wake of Destruction, Weapon Elemental Damage support.

My biggest problem is being so damn squishy.. is everyone else having this problem at 45?
How do you deal with reflect elemental damage mobs? At level 62 I'm dominating everything, but if I accidentally AoE a pack of mobs with reflect elemental damage aura, I one-shot myself. It's not exactly fun or practical to mouseover each rare mob to see if they have this aura before I start attacking.
