The Amazing List of Ideas [Updated 03/07/2014]

I have two chat related ones.

The option for PoE icon in the taskbar to flash when someone messages you while the client is minimized. Like many irc/jabber clients or skype. I think it would be pretty useful for people running shops (you may not always have your headphones on to hear the message sound / some people play with no sound at all for performance reasons).

Since 0.11.3 we have 2 brown and 2 green circles for Global and Trade chats. Maybe green circles could be used to disconnect from the channel, and brown to hide the chat without disconnecting. Right now you have to disconnect from channels to catch up on PM's you might have missed.

I have two end game map suggestions(one from another thread of mine):

1. Add a Cartographer NPC to random end game maps. The full suggestion can be viewed here: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/460745 but I will try to summarize.

This NPC would show up in random end game maps. There is about a 10% chance that any given end game map will have him in it. The map boss has captured him. If you rescue him, he rewards you with guaranteed maps. The first map is guaranteed to be of equal or greater level than the map you are in. A second map is not guaranteed, but can happen 50% of the time and can be of any level. Both maps can be of any quality or rarity. Another alternative is that you have to kill the boss and his minions before they kill the cartographer...if you fail, no extra maps.

2. Add map scraps as a vendor reward when you sell any map. The amount of map scraps could be related to the level of the map that you sell. 1 scrap for lvl 66, 2 scraps for lvl 67 and so on. When you reach 20 scraps, you are rewarded with a random map. This map can be of any level, any quality and all rarity's except for Unique. The key here is that the layout, size and creatures in these maps would always be completely random. You would never get the same map twice. This would help with getting bored of the same end game map designs/creatures/general layout. (A lot of work for GGG, I know...but worth it for re-playability in my opinion). (This is a brand new idea...I have not gone deep into thought on it...it probably needs some fleshing out).

Special note: When you sell three of the same map, you are still rewarded with a map 1 level higher instead of scraps.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul...
Map roll at normal and cruel difficulties
I'd like to see a way to upgrade the base item type to the next 'tier'. Some of the low level uniques have cool effects but just aren't viable later on because the base stats are too low. It'd also allow you to hang on to nice low level rolls as you level up. I'm thinking a vendor recipe like base item+currency, probably with a multiplier for ilvl or grade so that it's much more expensive to upgrade uniques than others.
Hi

Replace or move IR. Add a new keystone that would allow 2h weapons to block at the cost of only being able to wear EV,EV Hybrid,or ES to allow better synergy for duelists or Dex oriented melee characters that can't stack life as effectively.

cheers on the ideas everyone)

Whispers make ding sounds and there is an option for POE to play sounds even when minimized. Turn all the other volumes down except for sound effects and you will definitely know when someone whispers you. I don't like the idea of visual flashing its really distracting.

Your second idea is more of a bug or design flaw. I would report that in the "BETA Bug Reports" forum.

@Tuftronic

1st one I'll modify slightly and add, 2nd one no. On the 2nd one you can already make random maps by using an unidentified map in the eternal lab. On top of this, low level maps are not completely worthless because, like you said, you can trade 3 of them (same kind) for a map that is one level higher.

@PHRandom

I prefer maps to be something you look forward to once you complete the game.

@C0Y0T3_SLY

This might seem simple, but I think it would have too drastic an effect on POE's economic and gameplay balance.

@Finkenstein

Not gonna happen. Many non-melee characters use this the way it is.

Since I've already replied to this thread and I don't wan't to state a negative opinion I will comment only the new suggestions and the ones I liked (just to keep the activity on the thread too)(my opinion is in bold, my suggestions are underlined):

Not everyone is a lone wolf; guilds, clans, or groups of some sort would improve the game experience tremendously. They already said the will implement this. Yes, I want this very much too.

Inventory auto-sort. Usefull, as a button.

Machine that rapidly uses the orbs you put into it until you get a desired result. I vote for a new system like this: right click a currency pack then drag it to the item of choice and Ctrl + left click it. Doing this you will aply one currency per click, when you have spent all the pack, it will be replaced by another from your inventory so you can continue the process.

Gauge that shows the % of map completed (can base this on total number of monsters remaining or % of map explored). The /remaining feature doesn't help much if there are more than 20 monsters. Useful, but better separated.

Ability to see ignore list. How are we supposed to know who is currently in there? Necessary.

The name of the party gets cut off; I can't see the rest of the information people put in party names. Ability to scroll to the right would be nice. Useful.

Ability to give someone else party leader. Useful.

Show status ailments under name bar for monsters (see how many shocks you’ve applied, etc.). Necessary.

When shards stack into an orb, make that orb stack into other orbs rather than creating a new single orb (space saver). Very useful.

Ability to make a note for each friend you add. e.g. “I met this person on Monday” or “This is the guy I am waiting to get online so I can do X trade.” It's easy to add people and then forget why you added them or who they are. Can be useful too.

Show which maps are activated on which instance in the Eternal Laboratory instance manager. Yes.

Ability to limit # of players that join your party and ability to filter who can join party by lvl. Both are very useful.

A quick way to reply to the last player who messaged you by typing "/r <text>" or something along those lines. Necessary.

Arrows on the edges of the minimap pointing in the direction of your other party members who are outside of the visible map area. If you join a zone you should be able to find your friends quickly without having to scroll all over the map. Totally necessary. I would also add: map completion based on the party, not on the player. This way, if you enter an instance your party has already completed the map this map will be shown completed for you too.

Summoning a new creature when you have the maximum number of that creature type should replace the existing creature of that type with the lowest health. If my most recently summoned zombie is about to die, I shouldn't have to summon 4 more just to get them all at max health. Yes, totally needed.

The ability to shift focus away from the chat window without losing any text you've begun to type into that window. It's annoying to be halfway through a comment and lose it all when an unexpected mob suddenly starts hitting you mid-sentence. Very good suggestion.

@KieranGravebane

I am 100% OK with negative opinions, as long as they are backed up by rational reasoning. So feel free - constructive criticism is good for the soul. :)

Thanks for the feedback ScrotieMcB! Of course, I completely disagree with almost every one of your -1's. :P

I agree with 95% of his stuff, so +10 to ScrotieMcB, like he stated, most of your ideas are not at all valid, but there are good ones too :)

Very good suggestions most of them, especially the ilvl stuff. I have a suggestion you may want to add:

- Item background highlight colors based on item rarity
