So, if you only have 4 linked items, like I do, is LA+Chain+LMP+LifeLeech really better then LA+LMP+FasterAtt+LifeLeech?

Or does Chain only shine when you have 5l or more?

For chain you need a 5L (LA-LMP-Chain-WeaponElementalDamage-Life On Hit), 4L (LA-LMP-WeaponElementalDamage-Life On Hit)

yes Chain is for 5th link. prior to that, i was using ROA as my effective AOE dps... after you get your 5L armor or 5L bow, proceed to use LA+chain as your effective dps instead.

chain can be gotten for cheap, a plain low-rolled 5L armor can also be obtained for cheap as well. This build gives flexbility, meaning you can wear any type of armor pieces (e.g. Arm or Arm/ES or Eva/ES or ES). Farming mode starts past lv65 and after that you should start saving to purchase end-game gears.

i paid 4exalted for my armor, i think its a good buy definitely good enough to last me a long time. Next 5L on my bow will enable me to make my frenzy shots a little stronger with ALD.

Although initial volley can only hit 1 target per arrow the AoE effect can apply more than once if it hits 2 separate targets. Easy to test; get a single mob beside a wall, with LMP and LoH then shoot with mouse far against wall so they all hit directly behind mob. You will gain 3 LoH as opposed to 1 if there was no wall to trigger the other 2 arrows.

So you would use chain over faster attacks in a LA+LMP+weapon elemental damage+LOH+_____ 5L? Why? I've used both and I have to say faster attacks feels alot better for me, even in merciless, but I would like to see if anyone's done the math behind it

Hey Petrov! Hey everyone!

I recently reached 79 with the shock/tank build and I STILL LOVE IT! By far the most fun build I have tried. I have gotten some really nice upgrades recently and my dmg is getting pretty OP.
The change to inner force has been a really nice one as I gained a nice chunk of armor.

I'm simply in awe of how this thread has blown up since I started reading/following it. Massive thanks to Mr. P for putting it all in one very easy to follow guide.

One thing I just can't wrap my head around is all the hype about chain. I have used chain. It was pretty neat but really UNNECESSARY. My own personal experience is that chain did not improve my killing speed at all, and only really out performed plain lmp when the mobs were out of LA's built in aoe range. Again, this is just my opinion here, but I truly think that slot can be used with something else. LA+LMP+wep ele dmg+faster attaacks+life leech will destroy packs of mobs as fast or faster in some cases than any combination of chain. Just my own 2 cents on the subject, but for those seeking advice about chain I advise you to try it and judge for yourself. Try both in fact. Not everyone is the same, and neither chain nor the 5L I listed above is a set in stone way to go.

edit: Almost forgot. For those wondering about projectile weakness. It is very OP, especially vs allies cannot be killed stuff. When the immune to dying mobs swarm up and form a wall protecting the one with the aura, projectile weakness saves the day!

i'd agree with you running LA with chain might not be necessary. Chain however can provide more life on hit due to more target and more chance to spread shock debuff.

Not to brag, but solo I usually 2-3 shot elites that aren't ele resistant. No real need to spread shock debuff on things that drop like flies.


Edit: I just kinda got what your saying here. If your stuck with a life on hit gem I can def see where chain would give you more life. But if your blessed with a life leech gem you want your LA to hit as hard as it can to provide you with the 20% cap each time it hits something.
Pure choice I suppose. I merely thought I would offer up an alternative to the chain craze.
Mr. P himself agrees that chain simply isnt necessary to completely obliterate packs of mobs in a few seconds.
