" That's a funky build man, I love that you got to Catalyze from over the top. It's more personal taste, but with the amount of ES you have (9k) I'd personally go for a slightly more attacking style and think about ditching the 14 points needed for the big 60% ES bump and pump it into the dps nodes near the shadow starting spot. That being said, an extra 60% ES is niiiiiice. Petrov. |

" You've clearly made a choice to stack Evasion in your gear (eg gloves, boots). Assuming you want to keep those, and not trade them for some elemental/IAS gear (gloves or, say, wake of destruction unique boots), the other two pieces which are relatively weak are your quiver and the crow knuckle ring. Your amulet isn't much to write home about either. Petrov. Last edited by mrpetrov#7089 on Sep 18, 2012, 4:41:12 PM

Hi there, I'm not using the same build as you are, but am an elemental ranger as well. I wanted to ask for your and anyone else's that feels they could add something opinion about one or two things.
This is a level 70 ranger, with 2 passive in the bank. The build My last 6 or 7 points went into getting the damage nodes near the shadow starting point, and am starting to think that may not have been worth it. 3x6% and 3x5% basically. Would I have been better off going for crit damage or crit chance nodes instead? Not really spec'd for crit, but I run my lightning arrow with both crit damage and crit chance supports. That is basically my main concern. Would it have been better to put those 7 points toward some of the crit nodes or another frenzy charge instead of the flat 30% damage boost? Was also thinking of hitting the 6% attack speed node at the shadow start with the 2 points I have in the bank, but like I said, I'm starting to doubt the worth of this whole area. I've used up all my respec points too to hit the middle elemental nodes from the top instead of the bottom right, so I hope I didn't mess this up too badly >_< Last edited by boof#2056 on Sep 18, 2012, 9:42:57 PM

" Hey boof Thanks for the message. My personal view on crit chance for a bow user is that it's a bit of a waste of time. I'm not alone in this view and others have held it long before I jumped on the band wagon. The reason is that bow's have an inherently low crit chance, so you have to spend a huge amount of passive points to get them to a half decent crit chance %. Crit damage multipliers are, however, a different story. They work very well with diamond flasks (which ensure that any hit is a critical hit). But you have to decide whether you want to be a diamond flask user? If you play a lot alone, diamond flasks are only really useful for getting out of jams and killing bosses. They don't refill quickly enough to use for most mobs. I carry around a couple of diamonds for boss killing, but I have loads of crit multiple on my gear, which kills bosses in a couple of shots usually, so I don't need more from the passive tree. My guess is that your gear isn't so great. What's your DPS and main skill, and auras (and ES)? Petrov. |

By the way folks, I am selling my best quiver in the trade forums to fund my activities in buying gear for other classes. I haven't personally seen a better quiver than this for a long, long time.
Unavailable I figure I started this thread so I'm allowed to cross post?:) Petrov. Some items in this post are currently unavailable.

" Thanks for the response. Crit damage nodes are what I had in mind actually, but I don't have the experience with the game to know whether that's better to get rather than the small flat damage nodes. I actually run with 2 diamond flasks as well, 2 mana and a granite. No my gear isn't great, your quiver there has more elemental damage than my whole gear comdined, it's all self found and untwinked. Basically my first high level character in the game; the first character was also a ranger which was a colossal failure. My main skill is LA at around 3k dps and run with anger, wrath and blood rage. Energy shield at 3k. I survive pretty well as long as I'm not greedy or stupid. Might get more energy shield related nodes if high level maps start dropping more. So what do you think, should I try and get regret orbs and scrap that area at the shadow start? Go for crit damage? Something else? | |
" Well i would be interested, but really i have no idea how valuable this quiver is, so i can only offer up to an exalted (and i don't know if that is enough for this quiver) Some items in this post are currently unavailable.
