Will there be any problems if I follow the OPs build but skip on the Blood magic entirely?

I'd like to know this as well. What about replacing BM with 'Mana Flows' (which isn't out of the way, unlike BM)? With the points you save trying to get to BM, maybe you could put them into other important mana nodes?

I can simply tell you both BM is well worth it.
You don't have to pay attention to mana (which you'll run out of if you didn't have BM), you can level your skills up to max, because you don't need to adjust the mana usage, and you get 2/3 free flask slots to get what you most like.

What do you mean by this? Leveling your active gems? It still increases the costs much, a Lv. 9 LA with chain+ LMP + Faster Projectiles costs you 42 mana, which is the amout drawn by your life, per hit. You still need a huge Life pool to hold high level gems. Are you experienced with it or just thought the skills didnt cost anymore?
Sry if this has been answered before but how do i regain my life after using my life for skills on blood magic,if i remember correctly life leech is based on physical dmg but since this is a elemental build does it still work?does the skill for eg LA do some physical damage instead of purely elemental?

Life leech gem isn't limited to just physical damage so it'll work with elemental damage also =)

I've noticed this alot;

Elemental Hit,
Weapon Elemental Damage,
Life on Hit,
Life Leech,
Reduced Mana,

Are all the basic gems ele Ranger needs, but so hard to get within the current economy.
So, I don't know right now what is best.

All above except Elemental Hit should be actually fairly easy to get since those are quest rewards (e.g finish act1 with templar and you'll get anger + weapon elemental dmg). Elemental Hit and Chain are probably the hardest to find.

Ah templar ok, probably will try, thanks.

Note complete but helpful none the less.

what is a good secondary multi shot skill/skillcombo to use with this?

or should you just use elemental hit/damge/lifeleech/lifeonhit

Hi folks

I'll be updating this guide in the next few days but, like most of you, I am retesting builds and trying different gem setups with the new OB patch/changes.

My gear in OB is still very mediocre, so my first udpate will focus on a few viable builds rather than a detailed gear guide (although the basics of acquiring flat elemental damage will remain true).

The short version is that I'll be posting two or three trees (one more tanky/regen focussed, one more aggressive in dps but less tanky, and one utilising shock for all you...shockers), all of which have moved toward using Resolute Technique in the absence of diamond flasks.

Clearly if and when diamond flasks get reintroduced, I will adapt accordingly.

Thanks,
Petrov.

Thank you for continually updating this guide, it's awesome! Will the new specs be similar to this one? I'm currently level 35 on my ranger, specced into this build, and I'm wondering if I should wait spending the rest of my points for your update?

Hello. i have read a bit about this build, and i have a more noobish question. In open beta, what gems are the best to be used (as in skill gems), and the most important, how much do you level them up? Also, the same question about support gems, but i am more interested in the skill gems.

I know you don't know what mrpetrov is building yet, but I looked at the two builds you posted. This one I quoted, I have something puzzling me. Why get Savant (+30 Int) near the begging of the build if you get Blood Magic completely removing mana? I may be missing something here, but I see it as a wasted point. It's the only +int you have in the build. Also, not getting Iron Reflexes until pretty late seems odd to me too since you have all the +STR nodes.

Now I'm not really critiquing, because I admit I'm rather new to PoE, but I am more so looking for an understanding to this build in case I choose to use it or something similar to it.
