Hey, I've recently heard about not leveling up specific gems incase of stat requirements and mana cost.

Is there anything like that I should look out for?

Or is it generally safe if I level all my blue and green gems?

---------

Also regarding the cruel and merciless dificulties for the bandit quest.

Do I simply help oak and kill the rest? Or do I help all of them?

----------

And lastly, I'm still fairly confused on what other gems to use late game.

Afaik, these are the actives that are used - Flicker Strike, Double Strike, Lightning Strike and Whirling Blades. What about the other spells. Will I need to use viper strike or elemental hit at all or do I just not worry about them? Also what about auras and the likes, which should I take :o? What's a frenzy charge, do I need the frenzy support gem? How do I spam flicker strike, theres a cooldown :x

Thanks again for the great guide, and sorry for the bombardment of newbie questions.

EDIT: What does LMP stand for :p?

I alsow justr found out about keeping gems on lower lvls. you should realy edit that in to the guide asap. since some of those gems are super expensive. Could you pls make a list on what gems should stay at for aprox level? :)

Theres 3 types of charges. frenzy increase your attack speed. Endurence charge incr physical resistance, and Power incr crit chance/damage (i think). then theres spells that work together with those charges. Incase of flicker you can use frenzy charges to use them up and bypass the cooldown (meaning there will be no cooldown on flicker).
theres where when you will finally use Bloodrage which generates frenzy charges, you will be able to spam it :)

Lmp stands for lesser multiple projectiles. And GCP stands for gemcutters prism (if you stumble up on that aswell :)).

alsow i think you change around from all mentiond spells to fit the ocation. im curently runing flicker/wirling blades. duable strike. Warlords curse. and for auras: Wrath, disciplin at the same time + at most times just recently experimenting on having grace active on at the same time aswell.. (used to use viper strike instead of grace, but couldnt fit in theat gem in sockets anymore.. viper is good for mobs like "the general" boss, whom got a heavy energie shield.

im level 53

Thank you that answered a ton. Clears a lot of confusion :D
I still need some clarity on the bandit quests though!

The guide there doesn't say anything about cruel or merciless rewards.

It depends on the build.
I have a few questions about the leveling part of this build, I tend to ramble so tank you for whoever answers. ^_^

1) Theres a small part about when to respec into CI, but what I dont understand is when does energy shield become good generaly?
It seems most items dont have much energy shield on them. Is there some breaking point when energy shield becomes good? or do they just need both +shield and +% shield for them to be good?

2) At what point should I try to craft better gear for myself? I mean, what level is it safe to try to craft something good that it will last? or should I just keep all my orbs till I find level 60 gear :P
1) As the guide says this build is very gear dependent. You'll find gear with high ES on Merciless, but they need to be good rolls of course. it's not easy.

2) I'd save up unless you're having a very hard time progressing... you might want to use some of your orbs to trade for better gear instead.
Any thoughts on this build for open beta version of the game? Can i still follow it?
Sometimes looking for trouble gets trouble to look for you.

Thanks bro :D

I know its gear dependant, I'm just wondering when the gear dependancy really hits you.
I got to level 41 and up to this point I haven't really had any problems even though im dual wielding :3
The gear dependency will hit you at around level 50-60 or so when you start getting impatient and want to spec into CI but don't have decent ES gear nor a decent dagger with dagger nodes already invested.

At this point you have two options:
1. You've hit a wall but you still want to tough it out --> grind fellshrine
2. Roll another easier-to-play character to continue farming for orbs to buy stuff for your melee shadow.

I leave the decision to you guys!

Also, noted regarding the leveling of gems, added it into the faq section

Thanks for all the quick responses guys :3
Two last questions.
1) Why is Fellshrine such a good place to farm? (you say many times that it should be farmed)
2) Could you give a recomendation for a fun class\build to use thats good at farming? For when I start a new character to farm this ones gear?
Excellent write up, thanks for posting!
