[1.0.6] CI Crit Dagger Shadow (30k DPS Flicker Ninja) [OB video up!]

Hey Everybody.

Posting as I need some help/guidance on how to "fix" me.

I'm a level 68 Shadow, that has basically been carried thus far by a Witch class. I didn't have a clue as to what I was doing with currency until midway through my 50's so I blew a lot of it stupidly.

I've got 2 basic questions.

1) What should I do that I'm now 68 w/o a lot of currency, yet over the level cap of anything I can farm easily, thus the penalties are preventing my drop rates

2)
I'm posting my gear below. I know it sucks in a lot of areas, but am hoping somebody can give me some pointers to get it fixed. I also know I've screwed up with some of my gems, and leveling others when I should have. I'm working on remedying that particular problem.

Am I basically relegated to rolling a new toon to gather currency to buy/craft the correct gear for my Shadow?

Posts here or PM would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance

Grind Fel Shrine until you're 70, then go farm docks until you're maybe 75ish see how much you can stand doing that. Read the comments I have made in the guide, it's right at the bottom under "Additional advice from other high level players" and then as for cheap gear, go to my shop, found in my sig and look at the "dustbin" or just any area in general. There is alot of good stuff in there for shadows cuz its full of my old gear. The biggest thing I would suggest you do is save currency and get a good ES shield. Hope this helps and isn't too self promotional :) p.s. there is nothing wrong with being carried by other classes, we all do that at some point :)

why grind fellshrine at all? you can start grinding docks at 60 and stay there til 75, no reason to ever go elsewhere...

tho if ur not grinding xp and items instead i like solaris lvl 3 better cause of all the pots that like to drop gems and stuff lol, it's like a free mob you dont have to kill muahahahaha

well, the tree which you posted has dual wield nodes (?)

The tree he posted has dual wield nodes, I never posted my tree. I still dont think any DW spec is viable for shadows, just not enough there to warrant a 2nd weapon over a shield.

I hope you are right, I have heard this from other players, but I have not heard anything from GGG. As it stands right now, it seems like the measly 7% Life leech from claws doesnt make up the DPS difference. Not only is it easy to get Life leech, but you dont need as much leech when you are doing more damage.

Thanks for the response, and I have read your advice thread embedded. I'll probably try to contact you in game in the next couple of days, while I peruse your dustbin, and watch for other deals.

I think I've got about 1.5 ex equiv currency that I can liquidate, admittedly not much to make a major shield upgrade, though there is definitely room all around to upgrade.

Question for everybody. What slot(s) are people focusing on to get the str up for some of our gems? Are you just getting what you can and letting the gems level cap, or trying to stay ahead of it?
At what level do you recommend changing from pure AR gear to ER/ES ?
Hi again guys! I have a question for the 'pro' CI Flicker Ninjas out there: what should my next 'big' purchase be?

Stats/gear: 3.7k es, max fire/light res, 59% cold res, 5.5k DS, 2.9k LS, 6.somethingk FS, with 4 Frenzy charges, Discipline + Hatred + Wrath, and using Skelebrotem instead of Grace (I find Skelebrotem + ~250 free mana much more reliable at keeping me safe than more dodge chance).

Gear:
Spoiler

Flasks Used (situational, of course):
Spoiler

I'm running the docks for experience and after leveling, alvl 66-68 maps for gear/drops as I find them, but the docks are starting to drive me insane and even relatively safe maps tend to kill me once or twice (though admittedly often because of desync and forgetting to use skelebrotem to scout ahead). I know my rings, belt, and some flasks could be better, and I'm looking for a high quality Flicker Strike, but should I instead spend my time saving for Dream Fragments, a 5L/6L chest, or a more 'end-game' dagger? Or any other suggestions for expensive-but-game-changing purchases?

Optimally at whatever level you can switch completely to Chaos Inoculation and afterwards have over 3k ES.

More realistically, if you play anything like I do, you'll want to start phasing it out between levels 50 and 60 or so as you begin to be able to get more ES on gear and have to hit more ES%/ES recharge nodes.

PS: don't open your forum-based character menu and hit the 'passive tree' tab while making a post; it won't open the passive tree in a new page. XD

Something like that. I was debating doing it on a Witch but I figured at least one of these toons should be a Shadow. I'm also debating whether to get Static Blows or not. I have Lightning Damage on Double Strike and I figured it would be good for LS in maps. I still have to test it out though.

Very Similar to mine. Except you dont have Vaal Pact....why are you going further north of Inner Focus ?

Specifically for Static Blows, there's useful crit nodes and nearby 1h damage nodes nearby too. Like I said, LS does Lightning damage and I have Added Light to Double Strike. So all of my skills are doing lightning damage, combined with Arcing Blows and Static Blows and the decent/nice crit chance, you're shocking pretty often. It's specifically for maps, though, most other mobs don't last long enough to make use of Shock except story bosses. VP is, IMO, for GG end game gear. I originally tried it out on my Witch and she needs a few upgrades so it was better to go for Inner Force/Static Blows at the time.

Hm, you playing ci dualwield? You must hav a very good chest I assume.

That would be the counterpart to dagger crit build, a claw build which isnt based on crits but on shock and Static Blows.

Could work, yes. I still hope that ggg buffs ci a bit again, cb ci was way too strong, but maybe sth with 10-20% es would be fine, I think.

Sorta, not really. My Chest only gives me like 400-500 ES. I share it with my Witch just because I'm having terrible luck on rolls. I liked the idea of Dagger/Shield because Dagger has the implicit mods to get away with it. For Claw, I viewed it as much more of a DPS/Sustain weapon. Blood Rage gives you built-in sustain, 2 claws give you so much more, Warlord's gives you so much more. If LGoH worked with GR, I'd be practically immortal.

To be honest, the only reason I used a shield on my Witch was for the resists and extra ES, which didn't amount to a lot anyway.

Claws and Daggers use the same skills. I won't lie, I'm using the exact same skills on both toons. I just like getting away with abnormally high sustain using claws. Plus, at this point, the gameplay is a lot faster and that's enough for me.

I thought about it, I seriously did. Claw/Shield straight-up looked stupid. Plus I thought something about the playstyle was a bit off, so I respec'd to those dual wield nodes. They're the only ones I have but the extra attack speed makes hunting for claws a lot simpler. Hunting for a Dagger on my Witch was finding uber high phys dmg, nice crit chance, and attack speed. I can shave off the latter for claws, it's pretty nice.

Also, dual wielding claws has the benefit of extra hidden DPS. I say hidden because no one fucking thinks about it. Daggers have high crit but generally lower attack speed than Claws, plus the dual wield passive and the sheer factor of dual wielding to begin with. I don't even need Faster Attacks on my skills. Gives me an extra support slot to experiment.
If you're reading this, I'm probably on another year-long ban.
Thanks GGG.
