If you die in Anarchy, you stay in Anarchy.
You don't go to standard until October 8th.
The post by GGG suggests otherwise.
Death in Hardcore goes to Standard.
Death in Onslaught goes to Standard.
At the end of Anarchy, chars move to Standard.
At the end of Onslaught, chars move to Hardcore.
My bad, somehow I read:
Death in Anarchy goes to Standard.
Death in Onslaught goes to Standard.
At the end of Anarchy, chars move to Standard.
At the end of Onslaught, chars move to Hardcore.
Thx for correcting me XD.
I am now extremely excited about Anarchy.

I have read all the responses now. What I get from the totality: you can't please everyone, so settle for pleasing those who will appreciate your efforts. I like that GGG bends over backwards for its players but very rarely for its forum malcontents.
All I can say now is this is my favourite patch to date, and that includes 0.10.0. I haven't been on beta much these past few weeks. Those of you who know how fond I am of beta default will know that my absence (and missing out on that sweet as fuck aussie ping!) likely heralds something truly special cooking on alpha.
But it won't be until it hits beta that its true impact can be measured.

It makes the game easier for newbies, doesn't "help" them. There's also a downside to it, as you'll quickly find the rares you're picking up are worthless where-as they were decent a month ago. Reminds you of another game?
You mean like it is now? So yeah, rares are mainly vendor trash to get some alts/alchs, occasional 2xchaos. High ilevel to sell as crafting materials.
I don't see any issues. I don't mind the grand majority of the rare drops being trash.

Exactly. Elemental melee builds need a bit more "stuff" than just pure physical.
Traditional sword and board duelist here I come!

The reduction of overall dmg from monsters has to greatly outway the reduction you are doing to life and es nodes. The biggest problem with my melee characters is the damage I take not the damage I deal. I added to tons of ES nodes because im weak compared to the damage im recieveing not because the ES nodes out weigh the damage nodes overall. 1 major dysnc almost equals death no matter how much damage I deal.
No! Reallocation of an effective health curve favoring mitigation instead of HP will fix the problem. I would have been happy with a straight linear reduction of damage and health as long as mitigation stays the same/improves. The real problem was that damage was so rampant compared to mitigation, that you had to just stack life because mitigation was devalued and endurance charges were mandatory. I say mandatory because the damage had to be "spikey" enough to have a chance to kill ranged characters, so life/endurance charges for melee were then barely able to keep up.
GGG is doing the right thing here, and I look forward to the change. Add in the phys damage buff, and my sword and board phys cleave/heavy strike should be a lot more fun in a week.

Honestly, I'm dissapointed by this patch, and will most likely remain 'on the break' from this game.
The drop rates will obviously still remain atrocious, and even the new leagues are unappealing, as I still didn't experience majority of the game system playing a regular HC league (not one notable high level unique, only one 5L armor, no good quality gems, not much currency), so starting in a new league would only mean I have even less stuff (how long has it been since the multistrike was introduced, as still didn't get it to drop. Why in the world would I want to start from scratch, with even less than I currently have).
Life node nerf will gimp my low armor, high hp/es characters, and no amount of respecs can turn a low armor value into a one high enough to supplement the loss of life.
Challenges, like most of the game right now, will be experienced by a very small amount of players.
New orb will be useful to players with a lot of currency, mostly the higher end ones.
So in the end, melee buff might be interesting, but it's not enough to get me to start playing again:(
Also, with 4 concurrent leagues and multiple races, I think we'll be hearing crickets while playing standard and HC.
And before people say 'go home noob, this is hardcore game', I'd like to point out that the game can be hardcore and still rewarding (best example being Dark Souls, the most hardcore game I played, and yet most rewarding). I do consider myself a hardcore gamer, although due to working 8-9h per day and having a gf, I can squeeze maybe 2-3h per day, and 6-7 on weekends.
Edit: one question about the drops....'Permanent Allocation: Valuable items allocate to a random nearby player.' does this system take into effect the IIQ/IIR of each of players to determine which player gets the drop (based on the calculated weighted value), or is the drop rolled for each player separately?
Just went through all my characters with /played, total game time is 277h. Is that too little to actually get anything decent in this game?
I think I'm out for good:/
„I don't give a fuck if it was his tenth anniversary with his goddamn neckbeard...“
„If they think I'm going to let them sweep this pizza guy thing under the rug...“
No mod action. Business as usual.
