Part that sucks:
So we in standard, in 4 months, will have an influx of unobtainable items. This is why non-ladder sucks in diablo 2, don't make standard poe suck :(. Don't let the new league specific items into standard. Let them automatically be deleted or changed when league transfer occurs.

My hope is that at the end of these leagues, when all these new uniques are transferred in that the standard league will also have these uniques in their drop pool.

That'd be the only way to balance that out. Else you'll have people (especially pay to win sites) building large inventories of these uniques just prior to transfer. This would be an absolutely massive issue.

The new patch looks awesome, can't wait to see the patch notes.

I really hope you guys improve on both of these leagues if they prove to be really successful. I love the idea of 'other' exiles out in the wilderness that are computer controlled.

One question, will we only encounter these exiles on Merciless? Or is it possible to find them whilst leveling up to end-game.

May the first annual Onslaught league begin, and may the odds be ever in your favor.
My Review:

Anarchy League

Love all of it. Fun additions of Rogue Exiles to lure back old players, fresh start giving new players a much greater incentive to compete.

Onslaught League

Not a big HC player myself. I don't see myself playing Onslaught, but the Onslaught players now get to claim their mode is harder due to the perma-turbo, which is a plus for them I guess.
As for falling into Standard instead of Anarchy, I was originally against this but I get your reasoning.

New Base Items/Removed base items from leagues

This is great. Since Onyx and Primatic were a powerful jack-of-all-trades item, there was no good reason to alch/chaos anything else (due to trade-ability). I'm guessing the new base items move away from the jack-of-all-trades model and fill in the gaps.

League-Specific Uniques/Removed Uniques from leagues

This is something Diablo 2 added in its later iterations. A great concept which I'm happy to see GGG adopt, a simple incentive to play on a more fun environment. Removing Kaom's is an interesting decision, I would have preferred seeing it nerfed as it keeps the game more consistent.

Challenges/Achievement System

I was never much of an achievement whore, so this doesn't excite me much. Ladder, Races, and gearing up are enough of an achievement for me. I hope achievements don't give you any in-game advantages because I frankly find them boring and contrived.

Melee Buffs

A lot of people have been asking for this, and it's a neat addition. Not much else to say.

Full Passive Respec

It's good thinking if you're changing a lot of the tree, which I'm assuming you will. Please be very specific in the patch notes about the coming changes to the skill tree because I'm sure this will be a hot topic. If you could, please add a passive skill tree tool with all the skill tree changes to the site (just like the current one but with the changes), so people could theory-craft to their hearts content before the new leagues arrive.

Eternal Orb

Looks extremely powerful. A lot of RNG at the end-game will go away if this has a high chance of dropping, which isn't bad when there's a fresh start every 4 months. These would absolutely devastate Standard and Hardcore though.
"We've reduced all monster damage and have made corresponding reductions to player Life and Energy Shield passive skills."

Monsters do less damage, but you'll also have less hp to take that damage.

How does this reduce the need for hp nodes?
The way I see it, you need less hp, but to achieve that hp you need the same amount of nodes. this doesn't seem to solve anything, because overall, you're going to have to spend an equal amount of points on hp nodes than before, leaving little to no points for dmg nodes.

does this in any way shape or form changes one fact:

if you want to use bow skill you HAVE to use Lightning Arrow + LMP/GMP (+Chain)?

how is that (with no +specific_elemental passives) lightning arrow outclasses iceShot and bur_arrow by miles? this is not even a question of 'situational' use.

there are inherent balancing issues when you let skills overlap itself. Lighting Arrow does it, no other skill (freezing pulse does that too, so make it almost no other skill).

I tried all other bow skills and you have to be stupid to use something else. LA has no drawbacks and is even cheaper than poison arrow..

sad..
