Wow the notes look like some great changes coming down the pipe. A limited time on re-spec? That won't sit well for my friends that have left for the summer.
Everything looks great, but my only gripe would be the XP death penalty. I still don't have the gear to safely do Piety. I'm L77 and I've only ever got 3 L66 maps. That being said I can no long progress and it has become very, very frustrating. I don't care if I have to grid Piety until L90, but when I can't do anything in the game, there is not much reason to play it? GGG please remove the DP, or decrease it by 3/4th, then improve map drops. I simply can't find maps and even if I could I would not be able to do them. So where does that leave 90% of the player base? Unless you have a OP minion build or great gear then what can a player do? Think about that GGG. " I would wait and see. Since we don't know how much the values of everything will be changed. They may have indirectly made the death penalty a less of an issue if the game is now gonna be more smoothly scaled with the monster damage reduction. Basically I am hoping that there is no more 1 shotting, but at the same time I want it to stay hard and stay challenging. Otherwise I would get bored. Cuz that's what happened with D3. I used to play Diablo 3, then I realized it doesn't have a Shabby Jerkin.

I don't think you'll see one-shotting anymore unless your build is super bad.
When the patch hits I'll jump on my lvl 65 life-leach marauder and see how things are. |

Are they really going to nerf EK, FP, Elemental Adaptation, Inner Force, Life, ES all in one patch? I hope this isnt true. Seems like it will make alot of people rage quit.

nerf EK ? why ? should I play FP+GMP as everyone instead ?

First, an acknowledgement that the leaked patch notes that I am basing this off of were only for testing and this information may be entirely out of date/incorrect, but I just wanted to share some concerns I have, making the presumption that these changes that were mentioned in the testing notes are in fact going to happen. Feel free to disregard this post and everything in it if that turns out to be incorrect.

The nerf to the damage of freezing pulse worries me, because the damage on freezing pulse was never a problem, never why the skill is strong. The only thing that makes FP good is how, when used with greater or lesser multiple projectiles, due to the shape of the spell projectiles you are easily able to hit one target with ALL of the projectiles, and if you combine this with added lightning damage and chance to shock on hit, that would give you 5 rolls at applying a shock stack on an enemy per cast.
The problem with just reducing the damage of the spell means you've destroyed any use the spell has without GMP or LMP, and reduced it's effectiveness as a crowd control spell. You've essentially nerfed the wrong thing and instead of discouraging people from using multi FP shock stack, you've made it the only viable way to play with FP. Similarly, the nerf to shock duration on Static Blows seems like it was designed to affect that FP setup, and will do a reasonable amount to making double spork totem builds less effective, BUT IT'S GOING TO HURT ANY OTHER BUILD THAT USES LIGHTNING SKILLS A HELL OF LOT MORE BECAUSE THEY CANNOT FLOOD AREAS WITH LIGHTNING LIKE SPORK DOES. Sorry for caps but I really needed to emphasize that. It just seems like you're trying to nerf certain ways that people use skills that are incredibly effective and "easy mode", and hamfisting it so hard that you're damaging any and all builds that might ever want to use those elements or those skills in any way. Please be more careful where you aim that nerf hammer guys. |
