Thanks Chris (and everyone at GGG).
Empowering players with options is really awesome. Never underestimate what the mod community can do for PoE if you sell an offline client.

Will Random Allocation feature items not going to the same person two, three or even 4 times in a row? As in limit the length of winning streaks in regards to item allocation?

" There is no 'melee advantage' on drops. The monsters drop items when they die. The monsters do not spin around in a circle and shot put them Olympic style. So, it makes sense that the items that drop will be near the monster that dies. If you are near the monster in a FFA game, you will have a better chance of nabbing the item. If you are far away, you will have less of a chance. Melee have to be closer because of the nature of their weapons. Your ranged character can get right next to the monsters for a better chance at getting the drops. If anything, ranged characters have an advantage because they can choose to be further away or close depending on the ratio of danger to potential for good item drops. Anyone who played D2 and participated in Baal runs should know the drill. Get close to Baal when the kill is imminent, or miss out on the drops. " Have you considered there are people that fit both categories and like to play both ultra difficult and casually depending on their mood or who they are grouping with? I will say one thing in defense of tough mode players who dislike the changes - part of the joy of playing in some uber difficult game is discovering every small advantage that you can turn into survival and success. The mindset that enjoys that challenge needs a consistent set of rules to work with. Too much change is naturally upsetting. I do think that once GGG has released the game, fundamental changes such as this will be very few and far between, and the players that enjoy a very serious challenge will find it's alive and well in POE. I suspect that as GGG gets better at balancing the game, fixing the major techinical issues and eliminating the instagibs that you can't plan, build or play against, they will go back and make the game MUCH HARDER. Why? Because they will know how to do it in a way that players can overcome if they really work at it. Right now, there are too many hurdles that aren't an intentional part of the game. The custom leagues may be a very big part of this. PoE Origins - Piety's story http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2081910

We need one more option, for all maps regardless of rarity to be allocated to the map maker.

" Reading comprehension fails you, young Padawan. I explicitly said I thought getting only non-white maps was appropriate because that way map makers get a lot more worth out of the map, but leechers still get a slight chance of getting a map. It's not greedy, it's one possible trade-off, one which is less greedy than the "ALL MAPZ R MINE!!1!!" which you propose. I never said, as you claim, that leechers and map-makers should get the same payoff. Under GGG's system, they don't, and I'm glad they don't. Please read my post a few more times until this FACT gets through to you. By the way I would be perfectly fine with what you propose being an *option*. I'm always in favor of more options. And I would even be OK with it being mandatory, it's not that much of a huge change anyway. But I prefer what GGG is proposing. |

I think at this point we can all just drop the entire argument and move on. The next loot thread should be a tad smaller. Perhaps we can move on to ther issues. I want to say that I salute Chris and the team for biting the bullet and doing something for the fans even if it wasn't their personal preference!
