Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
" The blocking part of the problem will be solved too, it's only natural/logical. |

" You said it Vooodu! I loved the way Chris writes this decision off: "because all of our developers are ninja-looters and love extreme item tension, but after talking with a lot of players, we realised that many people would have a lot more fun if we offered these options." So they were just ninjas all along and it was never about the merits of the ffa system, LOL what a laugh, oh ha ha. What a lie! it just sits there and looks awkward, way to totally kill all the arguments of the last year supporting GGG's decisions here. All this time they just didn't realize some people wanted this option. first day on the forums or what? So who wants loot tension? nobody. |

I think the timer is good now, but often there are issues of other players crowding around the item preventing you from grabbing it. To this, I think there should be an added loot radius for items that are under your 'ownership', something incredibly small, like half a player length or whatever the minimum distance is possible to add.
p.s. i want loot tension. Keep players awake in maps instead of rewarding leechers. Last edited by lilbuddha#3895 on Apr 13, 2013, 4:56:34 PM

" Good point! However there is less risk with no loot tension, You can concentrate more on fighting etc. making this setting more appealing. As a HC player I don't like to take extra risks for no reason. How about if you host a public game with ffa loot and people assume you must be a fast looter and avoid your game because the other 12 games on the board are 'no-tension mode'. Just my opinion, but I think most people are lazy and will avoid if at all possible anything that makes them have to stay alert - but we shall see... Adding options will have a dramatic effect on public games, most people are not going to have a choice about what kind of game to join if they want to do a quest and only one group is open. Maybe GGG can pull it off? The problem is that if they don't there is no turning back. |

No please, cause half the playerbase to leave by catering to self centred elitists.
Fucking sad every time I see all combat stop so all these losers can crowd over an item not assigned to them. Like flies to shit. |

" "Rewarding leechers"? You know who gets rewarded by FFA loot? The guy not doing any fighting. The guy who's able to run around and pick up the loot while everyone else is still fighting the mobs! In fact, there's this common phenomenon where everyone spontaneously stops dealing with the problems the moment something good drops, and they all just crowd around it. That's the behavior that FFA loot encourages. Far from loot tension not rewarding leechers, it does just that - it ensures that those who aren't really involved in the fighting anyways have it pretty chill. Luna's Blackguards - a guild of bronies - is now recruiting! If you're a fan of our favourite chromatic marshmallow equines, hit me up with an add or whisper, and I'll invite you!

" ... and maybe that's a good thing. I never had an issue getting my own loot, but I've been taking a break from PoE largely because I played too much and burnt myself out, but also because combat was never the focus. Combat was only a means to an end. It didn't matter who did what, because as long as loot drops I gotta hover over beside it to get all the goodies. Anyway, it's just my two cents. Surely having a couple minor options available won't ruin the game for anyone. Instanced looting may not ever come for those that want it, but at least there's a bit more variety being offered. I'd join the "In your face!" club, but I find it highly unnecessary. The game would be fun for me no matter if they changed anything or not, but I'm glad they are giving this a try. Hopefully the looting quarrel will die down quite a bit. I imagine there will always be suggestions to do X or Y, but perhaps nothing that will see 900+ pages. " So someone taking barely a fraction of a second to pick up a drop on the ground makes that person a leecher? Since the majoriy of games i play thats whats really going on. There isn't many true leechers out there. Seriously. Bunhca babies... Neeeaaaah, Don't take the loot neeeaaah not now naaaah waaaiit.. XD O well, What ever loot option there is, il be playing the easiest one. Thats for sure. |

" That's sad, considering I thought you were a player who just enjoyed the competition aspect of FFA loot. You would soon enough have the option to go back to the good ol' FFA that you used to enjoy, but whatever floats your boat bro. By the way, maybe it doesn't happen in your group of friends, but when I played in pubs there was always at least that ONE guy who would just follow and loot. I'm not talking the guy who happens to use towers or is a necro, but just flatout sits there and waits for loot to drop and doing nothing within the group. Whatever loot system GGG decides, the game would still be fun for me personally. IGN: Mibuwolf
