Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

I've stated very clearly why there is a HUGE difference. My.mirror analogy fit.perfectly.

It destroys the entire concept GGG is aiming for as per Chris's post.

That aim never became a reality based on what I can see. Many of the arguments you guys give have little to do with the loot competition that Chris spoke of. That being said the devs haven't commented in a long time so I would like to hear their thoughts.

Really? There's pages and pages of ppl complaining about people taking "their" items.

Seems like it's working well to me.

When you are using multi-boxing to farm currency at an increased rate you lose perspective on what is working well.
IGN: Wrathmar * Paulie * Client
When you make assumptions about how I currently.play, you look like a jack ass.

Edit: seriously. Quit making assumptions. I've been leveling different toons.characters and running pubs for the past month or two.

Theres pages and pages of people who avoid loot competition because they don't enjoy it. I wouldn't call experiencing it a few times and then avoiding it forever a "success".

It all connects in the end.

These people that currently top the laddder will want to top the ladder after open-beta too and they'll do everything to make this possible. This means defending most of the advantages that gives them pole-position, including the currrent loot system that is ffa.

While I understand the concept of beta-testing (including extensive testing of all the exploits and cheats) I know for sure that no human person it's perfect. It cannot be 100% objective, it's a proven fact, it's in the nature of the human being. That's why we're humans not (demi)gods.
This means they'll (the beta testers) keep some aces in their sleeve.

If you think objectively FFA itself it's kind of an exploit too.
And the "competitive exile" bulshit it's just a santa story, nothing more, just good enough to throw it in the faces of other people opinions.
Let's not forget that this is a game and nothing in it it's real. Nothing.
The majority of people play games for fun, for relaxation, they are "competing" enough in real life and when they are gaming they just want to have a good time. Not compete over the fucking "reward" of the game which is the loot.
For that small minority that really needs comteting there can be cutthroat and all that kind of leagues, exactly like hardcore is.
But loot options is a must and i'm sure we'll have that. Probably soon after open-beta.
Even if right now the devs swears by ffa they'll quickly change it when the loot-rage will be overwhelming. It's inevitable.

I'm not anywhere near the top of the ladder and I still think FFA is a good idea.

Lol.

Read his post again he never made the claim that only top of the ladder people defend FFA. Also typing lol does nothing to add to the discussion.

Ontopic everything that can be said from both sides has probably been said over and over again :|

You miss you own point. Trying defend an exploiting with the argument is a game mechanic.

Come on man, you don't believe using 6 accounts is a in game mechanic. Tha't can't be true.

I will.

As I've said before, but because good points are so often overlooked in this thread ill say it again. It requires MORE teamwork to actively split up and fighter HARDER enemies.

This is the issue at hand. You completely destroy one valid playsytle in order to stop a few people who load. I love playing with people in this manner, as it actually requires teamwork and communication.

Instead of everyone simply staying within two feet of.each other and never talking.

So the "real" teamwork comes from avoiding eachother? Yeah, that really sounds like a concept that should be encouraged!!
