Dragon's Immortal Tank (Updated for 1.2)

Juhazzz,

I just recently 6L'd my armor, and was wondering what the best gem would be in the 6'th socket. I'd probably go for life leech or LGoH for harder maps, but for farmed content would you suggest Added Fire or Melee Physical?
And say I had a 20% melee splash (so hard to find one on onslaught) would considering Concentrated Effect be a viable option?

Thanks in advance.

What does everybody think of Unspecing Unwavering stance, and just equip Eye of Chayula instead? If I was to use Bringer of Rain, The lvl18 blind is rendered useless because your build consists of having Unwavering stance.

BOR = no chest = no 5 / 6 link

chayula = no SOL = bye bye half of your spell block

Essentially, it wont be the same build anymore imo, at least in my eyes thats how i see it

having blind / evasion is useless if you reach enough block / es / armor and get an AA because its tanky enough!

BOR = no chest but it has 3 gems fixed and 4 sox. This is very good and chip option for 6L chest. For 2-3 exalted you can have your main skill combined with: Melee Phys Dmg – Faster Attack – Blind – Multistrike – Melee Splash – Added Fire Dmg.
BOR (+):
• Chip 6L (blind is really useless but have no mana cost increase)
• 200-220 life (better than on helm+chest)
• 15% block – the best stat on BOR – we spent much less passive points on block
• 20-30 phys dmg – it really increase DPS
• Endurance charges on block – about 50-70% of gameplay I have some endu charges on but they are useless in this build.
BOR (-):
• No res on helm and chest – this is big disadvantage but only if you trying to have max res on elemental weakness curse
• No free 4 sox on helmet – not big deal IMO
• No ES on helm shield – this hurts. ES is your better life (better because easy to heel by Aegis Aurora)
• Only 1500 arm+eva – with top helm + chest you can get 3000
• Fixed gems are only 18 level without quality – lower DPS
I tested BOR and 6L ARM/ES chest. I stand with BOR but difference is marginal.
And last thing. I bought the new unique:

It can free us from the only week point of that build – elemental reflect. Using Dominating Blow instead of Infernal Blow you forget about ele reflect. DB is only physical (and phys reflect is nothing because of armour – tested on several phys reflect maps). DB let you drop some nodes (like elemental dmg with weapons) and auras like wrath and anger (less health reserved). It crate powerful minions (you have 20-60 all the time) which can kill map boss if you are to slow :). DPS is little lower (16K) but sufficient for clearing maps super fast. Soul Taker seems to be made for DB (270mana per use!!!). With it my dreams became reality. I combined my beloved DOMINATRIX with high life/arm Mara to character with NO week points!

WED >>> added fire

blind is useless

you cant use loh / life leech / blood magic like that, which means you either remove wed or else you defo need a Soul taker, and then its ironic you should be talking about cheap option for helm when you want a ST axe anyway xD

also chest = massive es / armor / res, this is a tank build.

i wonder what curses you guys are using? For now im using enfeeble and elemental weakness.I feel like enfeeble is must its really great against some bosses especcialy if map has some hard fxinses, but elemental weakness is different story for me i rarely use elemental weaknes in any scenario i feel like that curse is useless, i was thinking about switching ew for Vulnerability since im using soul taker it should increase my dps by alot imo.So ye.
Just curious why not heavy strike replacing inferno blow? it has a higher dmg multiplier and I find that I kill mobs at around the same time anyway rendering the explosion of infernal blow not as useful

Hey guys,
what a night I had. On my way home from my 130 mile commute I hit a deer with my car. The plus side is that I get today off since I can't drive to work :P

So anyways, during my 2 hour drive to and from work, I have been semi-theorycrafting some ideas for a soul taker version of the build. Based on some tips from those of you that already have one and have been obliterating things with it, I have come up with these changes: LvL 88 Soul Taker version

Stats

Gear

So since I have the day off (WOOOOOOOOOT!!!!) I will be seeing how this version feels to me.

Hope you guys are having fun still.

Well you should propably test out which turns out to be better, it depends if you have some fully physical damage gem as main attack, (take a case where you're going up agains ele reflect) then it's propably better to use Melee Physical dmg gem, but as looking at your gear few pages back, i assume you're not very poor also, so you should really buy both gems and see what it does :) And against bosses, with the factor that you're playing Onslaught, i'd change Melee Splash with Life on Hit, and also Life Leech in the links :)

Can't say anything about that Conc Effect, it's a blue gem ain't it ? My chest is mirrored, so i'm stuck with the colours that i have, so i haven't been able to test that :)

And hey Dragon, you were not hurt in the accident ? If no, then it's all good, day offs are nice, i like day offs :) That passive tree looks almost like mine currently, except the thing that hmmh, well i don't know what lol.. Well atleast i don't have Lava Lash atm, i rebuilt my Ranger with iiq + iir gear and been playing with it for couple of days now, i'm actually running out of wisdom scrolls now lol. Got a bit of help from Marauder on the gears, got Soul Taker + Aegis on switch and the chest + belt is also borrowed to survive maXXimum mf games :)

Hi Dragon, did the deer survive?

I am enjoying the build immensely, though technically I'm not running the build proper yet, since I'm still hunting for the Aurora :(

My DPS sucks and I currently have trouble staying alive in Lunaris 3, but it's a temporary state, due to some experimenting with gear changes.

I do not always run a life leech gem. I have 2 rings with +2 life gain on hit which is modified by infernal blow to be +5 lgoh for both rings.

I'm not sure I understand this bit, how does Infernal Blow make a +2 LGOH into a +5 lgoh? Or is it +4 (from both rings) into +5, but again, how?

"You want my sockets?"

One of the only real difference from what I am testing now is the mara start. I am testing skipping the 2 crit reduction nodes in favor of the armor route. If I had more points to play with I would prob also head for inner focus. Until then, there is a 30 shield def node I've got my eye on for next level. At this point, if ditching unwavering proves to be safe, I will likely be investing in more ES. Likely the 30% es shield nodes up top. Wish I had more time to level and better luck with map drops. For now I am stuck playing with 107 pts -_-

After running a Temple map with some pretty easy modes, I feel like unwavering may not be all that necessary after all. But before I make a final decision about it, I will need to face off vs a Uber Piety. One of the big problems I noticed was dps being to high to effectively test the loss of unwavering vs piety. If I had kept on attacking she would have died in mere seconds. She was able to get me to dangerously low hp after I stood still and took the abuse, but with no incoming leech that is to be expected. Really wish there was a /players 8 command for us solo players.
