Dragon's Immortal Tank (Updated for 1.2)
ok it appear there some bug currently that make monster hit a lot more then they are suposed to do after the last patch.they changed few thing about dmg calculation and i guess they messed up something.i tryed on my main last night and kole and he was nearly 1 shooting me while he usualy really low dmg.
that might explain why i had so much trouble on my map...i did 2-3 before patch without trouble but the 2 map i had problem with, i did after patch...i hope ggg are awar of that problem and fix it soon. |

I personally think you should start heading for the life at the mara start. I've went with a duelist as well. Here's my current build

Where you went for the int node on the right you can go to the one on the left and have one point left over. Also while you are there you can grab the 5% less mana reservation passive right beside it if you want. You will spec out of both later more than likely. Other thing I noticed is you should start at least looking for a 5 link at least. A 5 link would boost your dps tremendously. Also try linking your aura's with a reduced mana gem if you can find one. Also try for four links on the rest of your gear. Btw grats on the aegis on anarchy that thing is pretty elusive on this league lol. |

" Hey Gilhyan, I see a few potential problems that could be the cause of your difficulties. The biggest one is lack of auras. I see that you are worried about the covenant getting fixed at some point but keep in mind that it is not for sure. GGG has stated a few times that they don't want players to second guess their builds due to changes and nerfs. If it does get fixed, you will STILL need to run auras or this build will be much much weaker. So, if you can afford to, get a covenant. If you can't afford a covenant, get a reduced mana gem leveling asap. Once you have it and a blood magic gem leveled up to around 15 or so, I would suggest you link wrath and anger to your Bm gem and reduced mana gem. That brings me to my next possible solution. You should be able to run 4 auras from mana once your reduced mana gem reaches 18 (I think? This is what others have been reporting). For now, you will only be able to run 3, which should be Hatred, vitality, and tempest shield. When you are ready to start maps you will NEED purity as well. And finally, the absolute biggest potential problem I see is that you have skipped several of the nodes that make this build incredibly tanky. The hp regen nodes. You are missing 2.9% hp/sec just from passives AND you aren't running vitality. My guess is, that since your IB is BM'd that you are actually killing yourself with such low regen. The whole point of building a tanky char is so that you DO NOT need to have life leech in your main 5-6L. Replace that LL with WED and watch your dps soar. But currently, you can't. You do not have the regen to sustain a blood magic attack. So my suggestion, take out blood magic for now, replace it with mana leech. Run Vitality, Hatred, and Tempest shield from your mana even if this means you need to use mana pots occasionally. Link Anger and Wrath to your health pool by either a BM gem WITH reduced mana, or the covenant with reduced mana. SKIP discipline and grace for now. These are important auras, but not until maps. With the loss of grace I suspect your armor will drop pretty drastically and that is perfectly fine. Carry a granite flask or 2 and learn what mobs hit hard with physical damage in addition to stacking endurance charges. This is MORE than enough to keep you alive until maps, with the exception of Kole. Once you have picked up the remaining hp regen nodes and are running a current leveled vitality, you can try Bm'ing your infernal blow once again. Try it without life leech linked to it. If you can survive well enough, then your dps will improve greatly. If you cannot survive without linking a leech gem to your IB then I would also suggest ditching life leech in favor of life gain on hit. Since your dps is so low, lgoh will provide you with more hp in addition to the heal being instant. I hope this helps ya man. -Dragon DISCLAIMER!

Hey, I just hit cruel on my templar (I've tried to adapt this build to templar) and Ive been having a ton of trouble. I even farmed docks to level 40 before going cruel and im getting stomped in the Terraces.
This is my passive tree:

It's basically identical to the passive tree of the mara build, so i don't think it is too much to do with the problem, however I am lacking a little bit of life nodes so that could also be it. It may be my gear however...

My gear is pretty crap and I dont have many links. I am mainly asking what you think is the cause of the trouble I am having. Much apreciated and thanks in advance. |

" Hi, First off you have to realize that if you choose to do this build as a Templar your going to have a much harder time in the beginning compared to the mara or even duelist. The reason for this is location on the passive tree. The templar starts so far away from the hp and regen nodes that it makes early game a little difficult. I get the suspicion that you have not read my leveling guide. In early game the best thing you can do for this build is grab hp nodes and the regen nodes. You have only 1 and that is not good. I just realized that your in Onslaught. Up until the patch today there was a bug with mobs doing up to 50% more damage. That has been fixed but supposedly, players are claiming that white mobs are still doing to much damage. This build is NOT a good idea if your starting a new league. It is slow, challenging to level, and doesn't really begin to dominate until end game. If you are dead set on continuing, I would get all of the hp regen nodes asap. It could just be the recent bug, or it could be a lack of gear, or it could even be how you chose to spend your early points. Either way, be careful! Sorry, I couldn't be of more help. Good luck mate. Check out my leveling guide if you still have questions. -Dragon DISCLAIMER!

" Dragon, I appreciate the feedback. I think i want to continue this build. I attempted it in normal hardcore on a marauder and it was fine. What life/regen nodes do you suggest I am for first? |

Awesome guide. Awesome build. Totally completely loving it. I was wondering what you think on a couple Items. I was considering buying Rainbowstride boots for the (20-25)% of Block Chance applied to Spells. Do you think it would be very beneficial? I wasn't sure cause the amulet already provides 50%. Also i wanted your opinion on Carcass jack. Since it has increased AoE bonuses, although im sure finding a 6 link is gonna cost be at least one testicle.
Once again thanks for the sick guide and all the time you put into it. |

Oh yeah. Also wanted to mention that video for you posted on how you manage your gear and gem swapping for auras. Totally well done. Watched and did the pause follow along thing while i was watching. Totally got it first time around and don't need it anymore. Very very helpful.

" Golem's Blood (under duelist start)since its 1 point away. After that, work your way from Diamond skin (near mara start) all the way to the mara start picking up all the nodes along the way. This will give you a total of 2.9% more hp/sec as well as more hp along the way. I hope you are running vitality also. " Rainbowstrides are great boots, but they break the golden rule of this build, HP HP HP! As for Carcass Jack, that is a possibility but keep in mind it might be pretty hard to get 5r and 1g on an eva/es hybrid. Personally, I don't think carcass jack is worth it unless you cannot find a good armor/es chest. You REALLY want to aim for high HP on every single slot you can. " Thanks for the props ^_^ You have no idea how happy I am that some people are actually reading the guide and finding the answers to their questions themselves. I get so many pms each day from people asking questions that I have answered already in the guide or vids and it is honestly starting to get tiresome. So thanks for taking the time to read through the wall of text that is my guide :P -Dragon DISCLAIMER!
