Dragon's Immortal Tank (Updated for 1.2)

I'm having a really hard time with survivability on onslaught maps. Every single piece of gear I have has life on it, yet I only have 3khp at lvl 70, despite my boots, gloves, belt, helm and shield all having more than 75+ life on each, and my rings having 50 life. I have 71% block chance and am running Determination, Hatred, Grace and tempest shield, I can't run vitality or purity as I dont have a blood magic item yet and my resist are all capped at 75.

I just ran dunes and had a very, very difficult time surviving Hillock, is this normal?

That is always an option, however I dislike having any more slots without hp in them. Not to mention the lack of resists. I personally value block much higher than armor. For anything other than brutus and vaal my 6.8k armor is plenty and the small amount that determination adds will not be enough to notice any difference vs these bosses.

I've said it before. IMO you need to pick a specialization. If you are going for block, then that is what you stack. If you are going for armor, then you stack that. It is a bad idea to try to hybrid yourself. Just my 2 cents, but I think armor sucks unless you stack it as high as you can with passives.

I'm not sure tbh. I haven't done the new hillock on my mara. I have done him with my mf templar but ofc that is a diff story. As you can see from my post last page, I am a failure at Onslaught. Your stats sound pretty decent, I honestly don't know. I will do a hillock map later and see how he fairs vs my mara.


edit: I wonder what mods your map had? I just did dunes with stasis and chaining and hillock was a pushover. Do you remember what the mods were?

Probably a stupid question... but does block chance or spell block chance apply to chaos damage mobs too?

I believe it was something like burning ground, chaos damage and then the onslaught attack speed, movement speed, cast speed buff. The curse I was using against him was enfeeble, could that be it?

Yes and no. Mobs that do chaos damage you can block, but there is a lot of chaos damage degen mechanics in game. Those types of chaos damage, poison clouds and viper strike DOT, you cannot block.

A good way to show this is by face tanking the map boss from the wharf map. His damage is chaos and you can see very clearly that it is block-able.

I had a question for you since I'm nearing the end of normal

What preference do you put on auras? Your leveling guide states to use Hatred but doesn't indicate what should be next or any preference

Hatred > X > Y > A

That one is tricky. I prefer to have tempest shield on always because it is pretty cheap. After that, it is all dependent on your stats. I you are not resist capped you should have purity on, even if that means turning hatred off. Vitality is another really good one to have turned on if you can. I would definitely save wrath, anger, and grace until endgame OR if you are playing in standard and have access to one of the BM uniques and don't mind possibly dying then feel free to turn those on early.

What it really comes down to is your stats, gear, and personal preferences.

Yeah, it was feeling pretty good at the start. I was quite pleased to see that I could take 1 slam, but should have taken the time to get back to full hp before getting back in melee range. The video doesn't show it, but I was actually much closer to vaal when I died. Right after I got over being pissed, I had the idea to hit my /oos macro and my body moved a bit closer towards vaal. I know what I should have done was run through him and not away from him, but that is why I lack the skills to play in HC.


Btw, thanks for all the nice pms and posts about my try at onslaught. I know I suck at playing in HC and I am actually pretty happy to be back in standard playing my hard earned and geared chars. I missed my mara SO much :P
