I also have a Mara on the go in Onslaught -mostly- following this build. I think I am going crit rather than Resolute Tech, and taking a few more damage/accuracy nodes, but still going for tons of block and life. Main skill will be Infernal Blow after leveling with OP cleave.
Somewhat related: I am leveling a DW Crit duelist in Anarchy and I am going to try IB + Melee splash with him as well...with the attack speed, radius, extra range from heart of gladiator and, double crit chance from two weapons, etc. I think the potential for huge chains of explosions is there...will be squishier, but hoping the attack speed + LoH makes up for it hahaha. | |

" Why do you say that? B/C this type of melee build that needs to fight in front of a pack of mobs will surely die in HC? I FEAR NOT DEATH! I FEAR BLANDNESS! GOTTA LIVE B.T.T.W!!!!! Last edited by Halezor on Jun 14, 2013, 1:22:20 PM

Loving the build. Level 71 right now, breezed through most things. No problems soloing 66-68 maps right now even using 2 andvarius rings.
My gear is pretty meh though, so I'm wondering what to upgrade next. I've only got a few exalts to spend, so I've been slow to upgrade because I'm not sure what to prioritize. Current gear:

Any input would be appreciated on what I should upgrade first, ie weapon or aegis aurora. Edit: Just found a so I'm rolling with that now. So I guess my question is, should aegis aurora or a better weapon be prioritized? Last edited by johnssec on Jun 14, 2013, 9:52:10 PM

Hi there everyone, first I want to say that this build is awesome and I had a very good time so far playing it, so thank you Dragon for this guide :)
I finally managed to get the bringer of rain, and I want to make a profound comparison for you guys. so lets start with my normal gear with 6L chest:
Spoiler
pretty decent I would say, nothing crazy here (mace is meh). before I go to the defensive and offensive stats, you should take into consideration that I was using level20 20% faster attacks and WED. The stats:

Now for my bringer of rain gear:
Spoiler
You'll notice that I replaced my gold ring with the prismatic one, and that is to make up for some of the resists I've lost. The stats:
Spoiler
In terms of defence, some things are pretty much the same. I gained 12 HP, lost 5 ES, lost 37 Armor, nothing worth mentioning. Now for the prons and cons: Prons: - 15% block chance and 9% spell block is quite big. You can definitely feel the difference. It also saves you a couple of points from the original build since you cap your block chance before you need to use them. - 10% to gain an endurance chrage when blocking is nice, makes it a bit easier to maintain your endurance charges (although tbh it's not much of a difference for me). - higher physical damage makes my 4% physical life leech much more effective, Also lower elemental damage makes reflect a bit more manageable. - Much cheaper gear than a 6L. - No chest and Extra Gore is super cool. Cons: - I lost 1071 DPS. This is largely because I was using level 20 20% Faster Attacks and WED. I was expecting a big drop in DPS, but I gotta say even when taking the quality gems into consideration, I didn't think I would lose that much. - resists are much harder to cap. as you can see some of my resists are not capped, but they are close enough so I can cap them with 3 endurance charges. - I lost 38 IIR and 10 IIQ which were coming from my helmet and from the ring I had to replace. Conclusion: After playing a bit I can say it feels much tankier, I block considerably more now and my leech is better. I'm also planning to get 2 more endurance charges from the tree and 0.2% life regen per endurance charge. In terms of DPS, yea I'm weaker. I don't feel it that much on a normal clear, but I feel the difference when fighting a boss. I'm also planning on grabing more DPS nodes. My passive skill tree:

I hope it was helpful for people who are thinking about getting a Bringer of rain for their character :) Keep up the good work Dragon! Last edited by golan4840 on Jun 14, 2013, 2:11:00 PM

" Hey all, Holy beat me to this post about swapping in Bringer of Rain. Its good to see that its working for multiple people! I definitely urge people to consider using this godly helm in combination with this epic build. I made the switch right after the 0.11.0 patch update, when I saw how physical damage was so powerful and life nodes took a hit. I have some thoughts to add to Holy's post, and some changes that I found useful. 1. The endurance charges added from Bringer of Rain are sort of unreliable. They don't always come at the right time, but they are a nice addition when they are there. I guess I view them as a SMALL bonus, but not much more than that. 2. Another CON of Bringer of Rain is that you lose 6 total slots for equipping skill and support gems. To me this manifested itself in the decision to drop some auras. I no longer run wrath or anger, because I found their benefit was minimal especially after you lose Inner Force. 3. Holy is right about resistances. You gotta make up for the lost chestpiece, but its not too hard to do. Only thing I lack is chaos resist, but I seem to survive just fine, and my gear isn't great. 4. About BLIND: Bringer of Rain adds a level 18 Blind support effect to your skills. I encourage you all to read up on how Blind works, but here is my brief review: Assume you have 0 evasion rating (because you grabbed iron reflexes). When a critter is blinded, they have a 75% chance to miss you. This is huge, especially when paired with 75% shield block. In my understanding (and my anecdotal experience in game), this means that each attack at you from a blinded monster has a 1/16th chance to hit! For a big boss, this means that they rarely (if ever) manage to hit you. Overall I agree with Holy, and I hope these points serve to strengthen his arguments. However, I would add the following change: Save the four points and DROP UNWAVERING STANCE. My understanding is that this will negate the blind effect. I've been running without US since the patch, and haven't even come close to dying on maps, Piety runs, etc. Getting stunned doesn't seem to be an issue. Here is my build:

Quite a few changes in damage nodes in my tree, so you might wonder about my dps. I'm at 10.4k dps IB with melee splash. I jump to ~15k dps when I swap in added fire for single target damage. Dragon, Awesome build man. You are running a great thread. Your openness to new ideas is really helping us be creative, understand, and enjoy the game even more. P.S. Last thought: If you have good chaos resistance, play around with blood rage! I run it from time to time, and it is even effective when I'm down at -60 chaos resist. Adds about 1K dps and a lot of life leech. |

is this guide viable with kaom, 2handed weapon? and would increased Fire dmg affect DMG of IB much?
|
|
Any reason you're not using Rainbowstride for the Spell block?

" Thanks for the feedback pangolin1247 improving my data brought to this post. It is nice to see more players wearing Bringer of Rain. Anyways is an optional item you can choose to wear in this build because the build work's pretty fine with or without it. It's just about preference of playstile of each gamer. Ing: ExElite / Xilenze
