Although I play my Templar the most, I think that one of my shadows is the most fun, for me at least.
League: Default Name: MrSharp Class: Shadow Level: 33, maybe 34 (can't check from work, and I don't remember >.> Build: Dual Daggers, with a lot of crit. Main Skills: Double Strike, Whirling Blades (fun ;)) Aura: Wrath Secondary skills: Viper Strike, Freezing Pulse, Fire Trap Filler skill: Elemental Hit Small description: Stabby! Stabby! Crit! Whirl out of danger, and repeat. Doesn't seem special at all, but I'd really love to see you guys play him :) Last edited by lupasvasile#5385 on Jun 15, 2012, 2:38:01 PM

SHORT VERSION:
Firestorm + Totem = TotemTemplar; creates 2 Firestorm Totems which are well protected by the character (TotemTemplar) spamming Frost Walls (among various other skills) for safe and effective mob clearing. EDIT: He's pretty much ready to go. He currently has some mana issues, which I'll be working on, and because he's only level 31 right now, doesn't have all the supports attached. Basic setup/playstyle's there though. :)
Spoiler
Because this post is rather lengthy, I bolded the more important parts of my text wall - sorry about that! The below character is not yet finished by any means, though he is one of my current top-priority projects. A cutoff date would be fantastic, as it would allow me to prioritize this character's leveling to the point where he is "ready" to be shown off, if chosen. The goal of this character is to be tanky enough that he will not get one-shotted in the current highest difficulty/end game area, yet will still be able to (safely) do a sizable about of damage. The main focus of the build is Firestorm which is implemented onto a Totem Support gem and augmented with numerous fire-related support gems. The passives for this character focus heavily into Fire and elemental damage, along with some cold/spell-related and energy shield nodes. In an ideal boss fight, this character would set up both of his Firestorm totems from a safe distance and attempt to protect them primarily with Frost Walls and Cold Snap (to chill/freeze enemies). If he is under fire from ranged enemies, activating Molten Shield will provide the armor that his gear will not. If he is swarmed by melee monsters, he can pop Molten Shield for the bonus armor (and damage when it busts) while spamming Ice Nova which is supported with a Cold to Fire support for maximum damage output. Frost Wall adds a certain measure of defense, both to the character/allies and his totem(s). The walls cannot be crossed and will block most projectiles. However, the "pierce" effect will allow projectiles to pass through (which can be beneficial for allies). Fire Storm (both the raw version/Totem Supported version) and Cold Snap can be cast over the walls created. The walls can be created quickly enough that you can always keep enemies separated from yourself and your totems while said totems continuously rain fire and brimstone on your enemies (even without Faster Casting). Auras may be viable on the build, but I haven't played around with them much yet, nor do I know if he will have the mana to support that (I doubt it). Because he has Chaos Inoculation, health flasks are useless. This leaves more space for mana/resist/crit/armor flasks; whatever is necessary for the dungeon at hand. I know Ice Spear has 100% pierce in the first form, so I'll be playing with the spell a bit and seeing if it's worth using for the build - A decent leveled Lesser Multiple Projectiles is not an option due to Dex requirements - Depending whether I need more controllable AoE (since the Totems will be doing their own thing) or single target to pick off stragglers, I'll pick between Cold Snap/Ice Spear. Cold Snap also gives more crowd control for situations where I'm in an open area. I could have both on the build, but only one will be supported well (due to gem slot limitations). Freezing Pulse simply doesn't have enough range to be effective over the walls when I already have Ice Nova. -------------------------------- (IDEAL) CHARACTER TEMPLATE: TotemTemplar Weapon(s): Wand (for spell damage) + Shields with 15% Spell Damage base mod Armor Types: Energy Shield (pure INT armor) 111 PT Passives (level 100): 71 PT Passives (Level 60): (Ideal) Skill Setup*:

I do have a sword and board ranger myself, if GGG is interested in that.
Her name is Sharpwalk. She is centered in high attack speed (via frenzy charges) and high armor through Iron Reflexes. She uses almost every single melee mobility skill in game, which includes: -Flicker Strike -Whirling Blades -Leap Slam -Shield Charge Her main attacks are Frenzy, FS and Cleave. Of course she also uses Blood Rage, which keeps her on the move constantly. It's a high risk, high reward character, extremely hard and fun to play. The abysmal HP pool (seriously, she is squishy as hell) means you have to keep that HP leech up constantly to survive, so the fight can't stop. The fights are twitchy, potion timing is essential, and she dies a lot, but she can plow through enemies like a breeze. I think she is a good candidate because it shows how you can take a class and bend it to your will, without losing its identity. She is melee, powerful and aggressive, but retains the characteristics of a ranger: nimbleness, speed, and agility based weapons and attacks. Last edited by Falcord#4858 on Jun 15, 2012, 7:27:17 AM

Class: Witch
League: Hardcore / Maelstrom of Chaos Name: T__T Level: 71 My witch is a very good utility character, the build is loosely based around crowd control and being able to slow down and very quickly stop incoming damage, all the while being able to dish out a lot of damage. My witch uses Energy Shield as it's main and only defense stat, which means you have to be careful about taking damage suddenly or over consistent time. The skills I use are Freezing Pulse as my main offensive spell combined with an Elemental Weakness Curse gem makes for very nice freezing and chilling procs. I use Frost Wall to block incoming damage from range monsters and or if I want to support a team mate from taking damage. Another utility skill I use is Phase Run if I have to avoid conflict, and the other two skill gems I use are Discipline Aura for added Energy Shield, and Clarity for mana regeneration. It's a simple build, but it makes for a very useful party member and it's fun blasting stuff with your gigantic laser and it handles Chaos like a boss. i go hard on my nintendo Last edited by DysleXic#7401 on Jun 16, 2012, 7:45:58 AM

" 2143. I had a life once. Thanks, GGG. ...crap, make that 2144. __ Can we get an unarmed (punching) character in here? :) https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

Well I haven't been experimenting with really odd builds for a while now. Been sticking to one since I like it for the most part, although my Chaos kill speed is slow I can survive it on hardcore.
Its interesting and would be something to possible feature because I tried to stack insane hp and health regen. so yeah I don't have 10k "life" like you can get through CI, but I have instantaneous regeneration whereas ci you have to not get hit for a while. But I have over 4k hp, and could get closer to 5k eventually with better gear. And the kicker I am a ranged character. My focus has been poison arrow, with enough damage for elemental hit to do something. I spread massive clouds of poison that debuff and last as long as possible, sure I could make the clouds bigger, but with 7 arrows I poison multiple screens. Dps scaling needs a fix for higher levels though, i'm fine taking a long time to kill, but it gets bad at chaos. I use a couple curses, one linked to a totem so if I use it i can keep running away, a decoy totem if I have no where to go. and chains to slow them down and extend the duration. Nothing too crazy, but a bit different than most builds, but it works well for hardcore, especially leveling from 31-60. Could come up with some great names for how I poison the whole world. Plague Bringer, or something of the type. I attached venom to my name, because you have spiders and such that are "poisonous" but they should be venomous, and where I am venom, I should be poison. Fun build, if all goes well, will be my first character since I can level it well on hardcore, then experiment with crazier builds like i have in the past. |

Edit: Pulling this character as I have split his gear up while leveling a new character and he is not in a playable state as of right now.
As for the title of the series of videos maybe something like: "Walk a Mile as an Exile" Last edited by Fiveby5#4944 on Jun 27, 2012, 12:41:37 PM

My Shadow, Essoret, likes to work with his hands: he uses Dual Strike with a pair of rather shiny claws (and an equally shiny pair of gloves), linked to increased item rarity, for what feels like the majority of his kills these days... or he did until I forgot the rule "don't play online games when your computer's running both an antivirus scan and an automatic backup program" and got him kicked to default in the Chamber of Sins.
He's mostly a dual-wielding specialist, and has forgone the mana-hungry Flicker Strike in favor of Whirling Blades and Lightning Strike for mobility and range solutions. Dual Strike kills anything in melee range very quickly. Crowds are handled via Freezing Pulse, which up until recently was supported by multiple projectiles, added cold damage, and projectile speed by a rather tasty but under-level four-socket leather armor. Viper Strike is held in reserve for the occasion his weaponry loses its punch, and Ethereal Knives for when I can get a good set of supports on it (likely to be shared with the ones on Freezing Pulse). He also has zombies for distraction, damage, and corpse removal. I have wandered through insanity;
I have walked the spiral out. Heard its twisted dreamed inanity In a whisper, in a shout. In the babbling cacophony The refrains are all the same: "[permutations of humanity] are unworthy of the name!" |
