This tempest shield build looks genius :D
Build of the week #2 : http://tinyurl.com/ce75gf4
@renatobaal: Sounds like a fantastic build. I've wanted to do something special with Tempest Shield for a while now, but I believe you've gone over and above with it! I almost want to try mimicking the idea (likely with a different passive tree) because it sounds like so much fun!

EDIT: Have you considered using the shields which reflect physical damage back at the attacker? I believe the Ezomyte (level 62) one reflects up to 180ish damage.

Tank / Aura Party Templar

=Skills=
Attack: Lightning Strike
Auras: Anger, Hatred, Haste
Auras from Friends: Discipline, Grace
Blood Auras: Wrath (Gem Swapping Technique)
Skills: Enduring Cry / Immortal Call (Specced)
Leap Slam (For traversing cliffs and whatnot)

Use enduring cry to lure all the enemies to attack you, while keeping friends nearby to have a massive stack of auras. Use IC to gain physical immunity and then recast EC for charge sharing via conduit. Keep the invincibility up as much as possible in chaos.

EC linked to blood magic so that mana cost is not an issue, LS is linked to weapon elemental, faster attacks, mana leech.

Thank you :D

I have considered it, but I currently have a shield like this:

Unavailable

The mods on this shield are quite to my satisfaction. Enough even to warrant the few percent in block chance that I am missing. This shield has some reflect damage on it as well.
My body armor additionally has some damage reflection, which totals for 80 damage reflected to melee attackers.
The extra damage is nice, but I do not consider it a priority, as it is not spell damage and it only affects melee.
Tempest shield is unique in that it affects archers (and casters IF you can manage to block their attacks, tested it with the unique shield I ended up not using). so the damage on tempest shield has priority for me.
For those that don't have a shield like mine though, I am using tempest shield linked only to elemental proliferation and critical strike damage (see below). The increase damage from my shield is easily offset with another support gem such as added lightning damage.
I don't quite remember the block chance on the physical damage reflect shields, but I do believe they are high enough to obtain a high block chance if the quality is raised to 20%.

So in short, I'd love to have one with good mods, but I don't :(

Unavailable

By the way, I have tried maelstrom and sadly, my gear is insufficient for me to farm it. I simply don't have enough armor. I could probably use a shield with high evasion, grace and better overall gear, as well as a few levels, as I am not even 60 yet. I still have high hopes for this build on maelstrom, but for the time being, I'll be farming it with another character... If my addiction to tempest shield lets me, that is ;)
Some items in this post are currently unavailable.
Renatobaal, have you tried to buy a Saffel's Frame (The unique shield that lets you block spells).

With the new patch (and weapon swap) you'll be able to easily swap and kill spellcasters too by blocking their attacks. Now that'd make your build complete!
I haven't seen it for sale so far, I'm afraid.

It definitely is the first thing on my wishlist if easy weapon set swapping is implemented. I think it would add a whole new dynamic to playing this character. =)
I do hope that swapping weapon sets doesn't require me to re-enable tempest shield though, as currently tempest shield is automatically deactivated when you swap shields. :(

edit: Forgot to read the lower part of your post after I double checked the stats :/ Sorry for that.

Char name: HUGZMONSTRANGER
Class: Ranger
Chaos Innoc./Arrow Dodging/Hex Master/WoD

Buffs/Auras-
Blood Rage/Discipline(must)/Grace(must)/Wrath/Hatred/Anger

Skills/supp. gems used-
Flicker Strike(Wep ele dmg/Faster Atks/Mana Leech)
Whirling Blades(Chance to Flee/Elemental Prolif./Red. mana cost[or]Wep ele dmg)
Frenzy
Conversion Trap(Inc. Duration)
Phase Run
Blood Rage(Faster Casting)
Auras(Red. mana cost)
Elemental Weakness/Temporal Chains/Enfeeble/Warlord's Mark

-Build/Play Style-

I'm a ranger that DW only the fastest rapiers w/ atk speed mods and implicit crit damage, and the majority of my dmg is elemental. I normally double curse using temp. chains/ele weakness, or occasionally swap ele weakness for enfeeble/warlords. As for flasks, I use 2 armor/3 crit.

Basically I enter big groups after I've cursed using flicker/whirling blade attack rotations. If targets are fleeing or spread out, I generally only use flicker at this point to speed things up.

Since flicker strike is generally indiscriminate when it comes to targets being hit and thus not a very effective way to focus on a single target in large groups, I make use of Conversion Trap when it comes to Necromancers/Totems/Monsters with immune to curse/move quickly mods. Or in other words, a 'If you cant beat 'em, make them join you.' tactile solution.

-Major Advantages-

I move and attack VERY fast (flicker = about 5 atks/ps w/ frenzy) and due to this, along with using mostly crit flasks, I have a lot of control over where my character is while being able to constantly attack and be evasive at the same time, as well as being able to apply controlled burst DPS/crowd control.

How do you feel an ES variant of the build would do? It would solve the issue of Viper Strikers, but you wouldn't have the option of using health flasks. However, it could open up more opportunities for special flasks (resistances, crits, armor) and potentially provide more Effective Health. I could see Lightning Warp or Shield Bash doing alright with it as well, rather than Whirling Blades. Thoughts? I ask because it's your build and you probably know the ins-and-outs of it better than I can imagine them.

EDIT: I tested the Ezomyte Shield a bit in Old Fields; one attack was doing about 3/4 of a small monkey's HP or 1/2 of one of the larger ones. It took about 5 attacks on me for a golem to impale itself (without Tempest Shield or Molten Shield) - might be worth it! There are also mods on items which reflect up to 50 physical damage (per item!).

A lot of people seem to be wanting to see my witch build. My 32 zombie witch build. Well, I made a video. I think it is worthy of build of the week. I have heard rumblings that the minion thing is a known issue. PLEASE GGG, DON'T LIMIT MY NECROMANCY! IT'S THE BEST!

I had not anticipated the amount of interest and suggestions so far. I feel like it is better to continue the discussion in a separate thread:
